The Overson’s estimator that came to give me a price was a salesman. I had other estimators, from other companies, before him and they took measurements, counted vent openings etc. They jotted notes explained what it takes to tear off the old asphalt, apply new shingles etc. Used preprinted form and ink pens and informed me of the credibility and experience of their company's. They gave me a copy of the form, told me to look it over and call if I had any questions or to schedule a start date. Each estimate is good for 30 days. The Overson salesman was very chatty. His inspecting and measurement taking was much more extensive, He pointed out everything he was doing and explained why and to what end they needed to be doing it. He was chatty. He excused himself and went back to the big company truck to “punch the numbers into the computer.” (I’m impressed, using technology.) Ten minutes later he emerges with a glossy folder containing multiple sheets (see photo) and a computer printout of a contract. (Not an estimate, a contract.) He does his sales pitch explaining each line item on the contract. He told me his roof installers are better than any other company’s best roofers. “Better than the best.” I was impressed with the sales spiel and the extensive detailed knowledge Mike displayed. He was not pushy. He was thorough and professional. The “estimate” was $2500.00 higher than the highest of the others I had gotten. An associate of mine had recommended Overson Roofing to me and Mike had sold me. I felt I was getting “the best of the best” so I agreed to the deal even though I was a little apprehensive about the price. Mike explained how online payment methods and bank direct fund transfers or credit cards were not acceptable because his company would have to pay a fee to use them. (That seemed weird, a computer in the company vehicle and the highest price quoted but unable to afford a money transfer fee?) But I’m getting “the best of the best.” I gave him a personal check for 20% of the total. (I later read on the contract that they will accept credit cards and other online types of payments for an extra $400.00) ???? I signed the deal Sept. 15th I received a preliminary start date via Phone and eMail 4 days later. The start date scheduled was Oct. 25. Without warning at 5:45am on Thursday Oct. 21st A giant truck with a crane showed up and lifted roofing material onto the top of my house. I received no information from Overson, none. So late Friday afternoon I contacted them. “Schedule shows they will start on Tuesday.” They didn't tell me, I had to contact them? As promised, at 6am Tuesday three non-English speaking workers climbed up and began taking off the old asphalt roof. (They worked nonstop, extremely hard from 6am until 8:30pm. (Very impressive.) Gilberto, the Manager, arrived many a few hours later. Explained all of the work to be done, the amount of time it would take, 3 maybe 4 days for the job. He came by every day to inform me of the progress and ask me to authorize extra materials needed to repair bad spots. The job was done by late Thursday, in 3 days. Gilberto came by Friday, climbed on the roof, expected the work, added the dollar amount of “extras” I had agreed to have done ($1,542.00) and collected the check for the total due. Everything is good. A couple of days latter I noticed that one of the air vent turbines they had installed was spinning at about half the speed of the other. Climbing into the attic I found that it had been incorrectly installed. (See phot) The 14-inch round hole that is supposed to be cut into the roof is a 7-inch square hole. (See photo) Very disappointing. On looking around further I find lots of roofing debris had been dropped into the attic, also a sky light has debris that was dropped into it and one item’s base projecting through the roof was not painted like all the others. “The best of the best?” I wonder what details, yet unseen, will surface showing less than “the best” workmanship. Very expensive considering it is adequate but not the “best of the best” workmanship.

Over the decades I have hired dozens of contractors to work on my personal residencies. Due to a couple small leaks from the last rainstorm and age of the current roof I finally decided that it was time for a replacement. My criteria was to hire a company that had been in business for at least 10 years, was licensed and bonded, had at least a 4 star + customer review rating and an A- to A+ rating with the BBB. After a half dozen comprehensive bids I chose Overson. Mike the (Estimator/Salesperson) made an excellent presentation, Antonio and crew had an excellent work ethic and Beau the (Superintendent) stopped by all 3 days to keep me updated and informed. Their price was also very competitive with the others, except for one that was ridiculous. I have done very few reviews over the years except for the businesses that I have felt have gone above and beyond expectations. They have earned all my future roofing business. If you are having roof issues I highly recommend you give these folks a call. You won't be disappointed.

Exceptional levels of service from Jan, Bianca, Shelby, Beau, Soul and 2 installers. Jan who quoted and Beau who installed, explained everything and every step. All work was as if a craftsman was installing my roof. All Overson parties took their time to make sure I was comfortable with the process and the results including the final inspection. Jan was the reason I selected Overson Roofing over 5 other companies and Beau reinforced my decision by his crafted installation by Soul's team. This was a great experience.
