  OK... we have a severe shortage of good building / repair folks in Charlotte. It's hard to find a reliable company that does their job properly and treats their customers well. We had a bit of a windstorm last week and we lost a couple of shingles (I had guessed from a ridge cap). I'm not spry enough to be crawling up on our 2.5 story roof, so I went looking for some professionals. Johnny from Southern Star Roofing came out, got up on the roof, found spot where the shingles had come from (yep... a couple of cosmetic shingles covering the ridge vent system) and replaced them. 30 minutes later and everything was fixed... NO CHARGE (I was at least expecting a service visit charge or SOMETHING). Nice way to build a loyal customer base! Their office staff was also prompt in returning calls and getting me on the calendar. Thanks, Southern Star! I've got your number in my phone and will be calling again when we have another need.

  I want to give my highest recommendation to Southern Star Roofing. A few years ago, our family needed roof repair on a garage (not connected to the house) on our property. We didn't know who to use, and our homeowners insurance agent recommended Southern Star as a good company. She had used them to replace the roof on her own house. When we contacted the company, we received a call back from the owner, Brandon Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a consummate Southern gentleman, polite and kind. When he came, we realized that his company also could provide other services for us, so we hired him for all of the work. The total came to more than 23,000 dollars. Throughout the project, Mr Johnson and his team were communicative and responsive. We did have some problems with subcontractors and with materials, however, all of the problems were resolved quickly and courteously. Brandon followed up personally on all of these matters to ensure that we were happy. I have only good memories of dealing with this company. Recently, I had the occasion to speak with Mr. Johnson regarding some additional work, and from his conversation and demeanor I find that the ensuing years and the growth of his company have not diminished his desire to provide good service at a fair price. After my last conversation with him, I decided to write this review. He did not ask me to provide it.

  This was my first time having my roof replaced and received estimates & consultations from 3 different roofing companies which all were great however I went with Southern Star. My cousins also recommended this company. Southern Star replaced their roof a few years ago. Javi with Southern Star was professional in all forms of communication from beginning to the end. When he came out for the consultation and free estimate I was really impressed with the folder packet and samples of the roof material & colors I could select as well as being able to feel the texture. He responded to all my emails, phone calls and text messages. The office staff were great to work with as well. I also received 2 free passes to the White Water Center from Southern Star. That was great! The work crew showed up to my home on the day of roof replacement, set up everything by helping me to move any outdoor furniture, etc out the way (they went over and beyond to do that) and they didn't have to, they covered up what needed to be covered to protect from falling roofing debris and nails. It was a construction site. The guys were great and they cleaned up well after my roof was replaced. They came back for some minor repairs I noticed several days later. I recommend Southern Star for your roofing services!! - Satisfied Customer
