The company came and gave us an estimate to repair a leak. We agreed to hire them and were told we would be given a contract with a ball park estimate of $400. They showed up for work on the day agreed, but no contract was ever issued. The workers asked for payment, but we refused to pay without a contractual agreement. The repair caused more damage to the house and we went from having a small leak to a significant one. When the owner was contacted, he referred me to his project manager, who effectively refused to acknowledge any responsibility and we were unable to resolve the issue. We hired a different roofing contractor to repair the original problem and the damage done by Payne Roofing. Professional looking website is misleading to potential customers. Buyer beware.

As stated on the Better Business Bureau website: Problems with Product/Service Complaint This is a product, warranty , and repair issue. We hired Payne to restore our original historic roof and to replace the material on the lower roof with a new replica. The main (original) roof on the home was to be cleaned, repaired and coated. The lower roof replaced with new material, repair... existing material still there (gutters) and coated. Everything looked ok for a few months. Then the gutter started leaking, our house painter found a continuous leak that is causing damage to our rafter. The coating on the main roof is already pulling away and flaking, you can see the rust. Our painter said that it looks like it wasn't done anytime recently. We took the pictures to Sherwin Williams to get more info about the product used and they confirmed that it shouldn't have been sprayed, due to the surface texture, should have been rolled and that the roofers did not apply the correct number of coats to ensure that the thickness met their product specifications. Now we have a leak in a gutter, missing flashing along a section of the house, and damage on the main roof that is causing the rafter issue. We're very disappointed as this was a substantial expense for us ($**k). Worst of all, we've called MANY times over the last year and they refuse to answer any of our calls. Their workmanship warranty is a year but we can't even get them on the phone, let alone to come out. They took our money and left us with sub par workmanship. Desired Resolution We would like them to CORRECTLY repair/coat our roof or refund us the money it will cost to hire someone to properly fix it. Note: They neglected to respond to the BBB as well.

Hate to say it, but negligence from this vendor caused my client to have to file an insurance claim due to a pipe burst and significant water damage to the home. Vendor didn't take responsibility for what happened. Very disappointing.
