My roof leaks 3 x in less than qp years.  Now I have mold issues and they refuse to accept responsibility

We're in the process of getting estimates for a relatively small project, and since it's busy season, we weren't sure what response we'd get. But the rep from Kusiak, Mike, responded immediately to our request, found a time that worked for us, was on time, and was so helpful, professional, patient, thorough, and downright friendly! He explained all of the options for the repair, offered excellent suggestions for resolving the issue, and even helped our relative with an unrelated repair that had been hard for them to tackle on their own. Even though we're still in process of getting estimates, we are pleased to have met Mike, and feel comfortable in recommending Kusiak, based on Mike's excellent customer service, even in this initial meeting. Thanks, Mike and Kusiak!

I had a negative experience with Kusiak Construction. More specifically their assessor Bob that was sent for the initial job inspection. Bob was over an hour late to his appt time. Upon arrival I showed Bob the affected area I needed repaired (flooring & joists). The access to my crawl is on the interior of the house through my floor in our laundry room. Bob refused to access the space claiming he was "too obese" to fit into the opening. This was false as I am similar size, give or take 25 lbs, and can very easily fit into the space. I felt he didn't want to possibly get dirty and was being very lazy. He proceeded to lay on his stomach with his phone camera in the hole attempting to take pictures. The whole ordeal lasted no more than 15 minutes. He did NO measurements nor did he even bother to explain what could've been done to remedy the situation. All in all I felt that my call was an inconvenience for him, therefore he gave extremely low effort to help. I waited until the second day before calling Kusiak about my quote after not hearing from Bob. Bob then informed me that Kusiak will pass on the job due to being overly busy and because they have an aging crew who will not work inside of a crawl space. I feel wronged due to the fact I explained my situation prior to them sending Bob out and was told this is definitely something Kusiak can handle for me. If they were too busy to take work I should've been told that up front rather than miss time at work and have Bob completely waste my time. I would NOT recommend Kusiak Construction in the future if this is how they do business. I'm currently waiting for a call back from ownership to further explain what transpired and hopefully correct this wrong.

Al, I appreciate your feedback. We do our best to get all the information needed when answering the calls and setting up appointments. We have different crews with different skills for different jobs. Sometimes one of our crews can be booked for months while the other crews are readily available. That is why we don't say a blanket statement of "we're too busy" because it really depends on each job and what it entails. Unfortunately, we can't tell over the phone what crew would be needed or exactly what the job would need to complete. Once Bob was out and saw this was not something we were able to service for you in a timely or cost effective manner, he let you know. I'm sorry you feel this was a waste of time. However, I don't see how we would have known if we were able to complete the service or not without coming out first.

I called to get an estimate on repair of my attic and roof.  I stated at that time that the attic must be repaired first as the nature of the damage in the attic is such that repairs would likely damage the roof further in the process, or damage a new roof if done after the roof.  I also stated that I needed an assessment that would enable me to file a claim with my insurance as to how much damage is covered by insurance.  When their assessor came out, I stated that again, as did my husband.  What I got was just a listing on work proposed and cost to replace the roof.  No mention of the attic, and the person who came out chose to not even look at our attic.  Nothing in the paperwork could be used to file a claim with our insurance, either, but we did get a separate estimate to replace our siding, which was not part of our request and to which we already had said no to the assessor at the time of his visit.  I will not be using their services since they ignored our statements.

I'm sorry you feel that way. We work with insurance companies every single day and are very familiar with how the insurance process works. Our estimate that was sent absolutely could've been used for your insurance. We can not say how much your insurance will cover, that is solely determined by your insurance adjuster. We work hand in hand with insurance companies and always prefer that we are there at time of insurance adjuster inspection. Sometimes, we as a licensed, bonded, and insured contractor find more damage than your insurance company and can facilitate in covering more. There was a miscommunication somewhere along the way and we would've loved the opportunity to sort that out. We wish you luck in your project.

I had my roof, siding, windows, and some interior work done by Kusiak Construction. They recently merged with Steel City Home Improvement and Bob and Dave both knew what they were talking about. They recommended a great set up for me and the execution was perfect. The crews were very respectful of my home, I had constant communication with the office in regards to scheduling, and they clean up once the job was done looked better than before they started the project. Definitely recommend Kusiak!!

They are the BEST roofers in Munster and the surrounding areas. They do superb work. We absolutely love our new roof. They are affordable , professional and the job was complete in 3 days.

Called them to remove snow off roof,  and to repair gutter.  Jeremy and Bill came out and were very pleasant.  Very professional.  The office sent them out right away.  Friendly people.  Will definitely use again.  Thanks to all of you for making this less stressful.
