I wasted 11 weeks of time trying to get interior doors and a storm door ordered from Builders FirstSource. When you are told by the employee "I'll look into it and get right back to you" don't expect a phone at all. The excuse for our order never being followed up on was that Zack, our salesman, was out because his wife had a baby, and they are shorthanded. But when Zack was back in he told me again "I'll look into it and get right back to you"..... I'm still waiting for that phone call.... Take a look at the reviews for FirstSource and then compare the reviews for Modern Builders. That will tell you who you should deal with from the start! I wish that I had seen the reviews 11 weeks ago. I wouldn't have wasted any time at FirstSource and my doors would have been installed by now had I originally gone to Modern Builders. Modern Builders matched stain and ordered my doors yesterday on my first visit there...... as I waited for that phone call from Zack from FirstSource regarding the stain match. :/ Apparently Modern Builders are not shorthanded, or maybe it is that they just make time for their customers. I always follow up elsewhere with a good review when I leave a poor review, as I don't feel it is fair to only review when there are problems. Modern Builders will be getting the good review.

Typical corporate lumberyard that caters to production builders who build 15 or more homes a year. The sales rep I had was absolutely terrible. He would send out the wrong item, like he did for siding. Then he would set up a return and no one would show up as I was wasting my day waiting. This went on 3 times until someone finally showed up. Turns out some other builder wanted a delivery and instead of calling to reschedule they just didn't show up. Then on the returns they didn't give full credit for items, including a $220 box of cedar shake panels. I asked the rep about why, and he would just say I will look into it. He never responded to it. I was going to order the interior door package and the rep kept saying they were working on it but after pressing him he said I will have it on Friday. Never responded and on Monday he said they were behind and he would have to find some time to work on it. By Thursday I left a message I was ordering tomorrow and wondered if he had an interest. He never responded. Biggest takeaway I want to give in this review is if you are looking for someone to do any sort of labor, save your time. I said I would buy all the framing materials if he could find me one. Response: do not know anyone who frames. Same response for roofing and siding, ect... Heard the same story for other people who were looking to have remodeling at their house, they will not give out names. I even had a client that was delaying a start of they project and asked if there was any projects they could put my name out to earn the job. Reps response was: do not know of anyone looking for a builder. I was so frustrated with the lack of response and how little he cared, I just asked for the credit money to be returned and cancel my account there. The response I got from the rep was "OK" he did even ask why. I asked when would it be taken care of, he said immediately. 4 months later he finally took care of it. Save yourself the frustration and just go elsewhere. If you are not buying a large enough scale of materials they are just going to blow you off. I have switched to another establishment and the manager checks in to make sure if there is anything he can do to help and has given me referrals too.

Met with design person to draw up plans for deck. Designer said it would take 2 weeks to get done. After 3 weeks and no return emails, contacted designer by phone. Now told designer doesn’t have time to draw up and my hopes to have deck done are 3wks behind schedule at least. Very disappointing.
