  The salesman , Steve Williams, came to my home, got up on the roof and took the measurements to replace two, small, 30+ yr old skylights. A nonrefundable $1,200.00 dollars was paid in advance so he could order the , according to the contract “special materials” i.e., the two skylights. Two installers arrived a couple of days later, three hours later they were finished with the install. But the skylights were 16 inches over, and wouldn’t fit into the original frames. I went back to Mr. Williams and he said he was finished with the job, and there was nothing he could do. So be provided the number of a local handyman who would have to cut the interior, kitchen ceiling to elongate the frames so the skylights would fit properly. So I went back to the Balkan Office and explained my dissatisfaction with another very disinterested associate, Mr. James Matthews. He only casually glanced at my photos of the poor quality of work, even the photos that showed after one cold snap the ice that was on the skylights from the kitchen, inside panels. When I asked to speak to the owner, James wouldn’t provide any of his contact information. Said he would provide it next week. Total amount charged for this hellish, and continuing saga $2,400.00. Unless you want to live a similar nightmare….DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, absolutely horrible customer service and the install is a disaster that requires an additional handyman I have to pay to make it right.

  This is the first job in a long time that was professionally done with excellent results. We had many problems with our existing roof, but Balken resolved all of them, and then put up new gutters in the front and never charged us. Bob Balken stopped by the job and talked to my wife and I for 2 hours. These people aren't too busy to be friendly. One of the best companies I have ever worked with. A must recommendation.
