Hopefully this will help you the reader in selecting your roofing contractor. I will post updates if there are in the future. If you do not want to read all the events, scroll to the bottom there is a short and sweet conclusion. In October 2017 I signed a contract with Aspen Contracting to tear off and replace the roof and gutter systems on an investment property I own. Reason for replacement: the current roof had developed a small leak in the “Laundry room”. They said their products were backed by their “Aspen Ironclad Lifetime Warranty” for 50 years. (This warranty is through the company only and not backed by any manufactures) The roof was replaced later that month. During the replacement many boxes of Corona were passed up to the roof, and returned to the ground empty. Despite me having a large driveway that goes right next to the roof and was empty, the team backed a large trailer up my front lawn to the house. When the trailer was filled and pulled away it left deep ruts. A structural 2X4 on my screen porch was broken during the process. They fixed it by simply cutting out the broken part, replacing it, not bothering to line it up with the existing board, making it stable, or painting it. (This still hasn't been fixed.) With a new roof installed, I replaced and refinished the area affected by the original leak. In November 2017 about 1 month after the roof replacement, the first signs of leaks started showing. There were water spots appearing in the same place as the initial leak. I contacted Aspen roofing and was told that in inspector would contact me to set up a time to meet sometime that week. A week went by and I had received no call. I contacted them again. This time they sent someone out a day later. The inspector looked into the issue and assured me it was a minor issue and he had taken care of it. The next rain comes and the water spot grew. I contacted Aspen again. Again after some time, they sent someone out who did “minor repair”. This same series of events happened twice more for a total of 4 “minor repairs” At this point the water spot has created a small whole in the drywall. Every time it rains the water simply drained right through the roof and onto the floor. On my 5th call the company sent “Duane” out who decided they had accidentally put the wrong type of roofing material on the screen porch. (The screen porch has a flat roof and requires cap sheet instead of shingles. The porch was attached to the house at the laundry room.) He thought the water was coming in through the shingles on the flat roof. It is now around July 2018. The company put cap sheet on the screen porch. Instead of laying a fresh roll of cap sheet. They must have used leftovers they had from previous jobs. To present day, the material on the screen porch has multiple seams, and multiple colors. Sadly, while the cap sheet slowed the leak, it did not fix it. The leak, while slowed, expanded. It now leaked out of my soffit ventilation as well as the laundry room ceiling. Over the next year, I continued the battle to a roof that did not leak. During this time my main contact with the company and to this day is Ashley Kelly. Ashley often takes days if not weeks in between communication. Usually I would send in an email addressing many issues. The response would come in at a slow pace addressing about half the concerns. I am happy to report that around late July 2019 the leak was finally stopped. This started the process of seeking repairs for the damages caused by the leak. The only thing the company has repaired is the ceiling in the laundry room. Everything else they have ignored. They have ceased communication with me. The brand new roof doesn't leak. It only cost me thousands in damages, 100's of hours arguing, and 2.5 years.

Thomas Green, Aspen Contracting, came to my door and asked if I wanted him to inspect my roof for hail damage. I said yes as hail had damaged my wife’s car. I previously had 2 other companies inspect my roof and was told by both that it was in OK shape, except for the ridge shingles. Thomas Green gave a very in-depth presentation with no pressure. Tom has a casual selling style that immediately put us at ease. We were amazed. Our roof and gutters were completely replaced in less than 1 week starting from the estimate! Thomas has many years in the roofing business, starting out as an installer, so he is very knowledgeable, with an eye for detail in both roof inspection and installation. He communicated frequently with us and was here supervising the installation process. Tom’s main goal is to make the customer happy. Thomas Green has pride in his company, and it shows. The quality of Aspen Contracting shingles and guttering is very good. I recommend Aspen Contracting and Thomas Green to anyone wanting a quality and quick roof installation at a fair price.

Being a 61 year old civil engineer who worked in construction my entire career I can state unequivocally that I am one satisfied customer. The attention to detail, the crew work ethic, and the oversight by my local representative were enough to win my trust(which isn't easy). Professionalism and experience was evident throughout the process. A 4-man roof crew worked almost non-stop, seamlessly for 13-1/2 hours to complete my tear-off and roof installation on a 36 square roof with 29 facets. I am feeling very good about my decision which had 4 different contractors bidding......thanks Aspen.
