I am the president of the Denver Cottonwoods Townhomes Assoc. We worked with Mike and Kevin from Apex for months. They inspected our roof's and determined they had significant hail damage and were pretty sure we had enough damage to file an insurance claim. Eventually we filed the claim and Apex took care of all of it. Unfortunately our Insurance Co. delayed sending an adjuster out due to in-house issues. When we finally were in contact with the adjuster things started progressing rapidly. I worked closely with Kevin Tucker. He was the project manager, I was the HOA manager for the project. I would have to say honestly that this project moved along pretty close to the projection. Most home owners, I feel are very happy with the results. It is unfortunate that there maybe a member or 2 that had some kind of issues. I personally was very happy with Apex from start to finish. It was a tough year with COVID for everyone. The contract was fulfilled over and above my expectations. The crews were, in my opinion, professional. I am not saying there were no issues, however, when I would reach out to Kevin or Jackie, they resolved them as quickly as they could.

Lisa, thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed positive review of your experience working with Apex Restoration & Roofing. We are so thrilled about how beautiful the Denver Cottonwoods Townhome community looks now that construction is complete. Apex is honored to have assisted your HOA with this insurance claim and are very glad that the community is so happy with our work re-roofing, siding, and painting the 11 duplex buildings.

This company seems impressive but their execution is extremely lacking. They did 22 units in our HOA and the project took about three times as long as they claimed it would. They did not proceed as they said they would and the subs kept changing. They damaged a lot of units while installing siding and were slow or ineffective at responding to homeowner concerns. Workers sped through the private drives despite young children in the neighborhood, left messes, and routinely left work unfinished and equipment all over the complex. Kevin, the on-site project manager, was not really on-site and took months to get to punchlist items including hazardous items like electrical work that worker's just hid damage or made makeshift repairs. In addition, we never have really gotten a good accounting of the finances. The project cost more than we were told and the additional settlements with insurance that Apex helped with didn't seem to reduce the cost of the project. Very fuzzy math and few details despite repeated request for clarification. Although Mike the owner seemed like a great guy committed to the job, execution was horrible. The end result looks good, but the pain was far beyond what was necessary.

Kevin, it is disappointing that you have ignored our many attempts to reach you by phone and email with the intention of accommodating any issues you may have had before and after posting this review. While there is always a factor of inconvenience in any insurance claim and/or large construction job while still being occupied by the residents, we feel that the entire team at Apex Restoration & Roofing exceeded our commitments to your community and promptly addressed all concerns brought to our attention. Your resignation from the Board of Directors prior to substantial progress on the project may be contributing to your lack of clarity regarding the ‘fuzzy math and few details’ as the current Board of Directors has not expressed any confusion regarding the accounting of the finances nor any outstanding concerns regarding the quality of our work. The current President of the Board of Directors has even gone so far as to leave us a five-star Google review highlighting the work we completed for your community. We are happy that you have acknowledged the end result looks good, and while we regret any ‘pain’ you felt as a unit owner in the community during construction we hope that you will reconsider this unfair 1 star review.

The aesthetics of our home’s curb appeal has been damaged by Apex’s subpar/reckless install of the copper above our front bay window. Before starting the project, Apex told us they would use the original copper as a template for the new copper, so we assumed the design would be exactly the same. No so! They bolted an unsightly, straight counter flashing over a curved step flashing. This application is nothing like the previous copper roof. Now we’re left with a “hot mess” above our bay window. Apex states that the new copper roof is “to code.” This assertion isn’t verified, because the copper roof was never inspected by the city building department. Interestingly, our invoice includes a charge for an inspection. Apex wants to get away with charging for something that wasn’t done. We appreciate “to code,” but proper roof installation that’s aesthetically pleasing is just as important. As a point of reference, we scoped out other homes in our subdivision with new copper roofs. All of them have beautiful workmanship. Apex should be embarrassed of their work, compared to other copper roof installations in our neighborhood. We consulted with a skilled copper installer to evaluate Apex’s work and he found the following issues, to name a few: - Large dent on the top surface of the roof panel which could be a result of the Apex installer pressing down during the install process - The counter flashing was bolted to the brick using metal rivets that’s incompatible with copper which can result in dark rings where the rivets are installed - Scratches everywhere on the copper that are visible as the copper patinas - The Apex installer didn’t wear gloves, due to all of the fingerprint marks on the copper We’re very dissatisfied with how Apex handles our issues and concerns regarding their copper workmanship. If you hire Apex to do your project, get ready for a lot of push back and deflecting if any problems arise. Having satisfied customer is not their main goal.

Rhonda, we appreciate you taking the time to leave such a detailed review of your experience working with Apex. We regret that you aren’t satisfied with our work and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. As you’ve highlighted in your review, Apex installed the copper above your front bay window “to code”. We are disappointed that you feel the counter flashing, which is undisputedly a code requirement, doesn’t provide the curb appeal you were hoping for. A Google image search of Copper Bay Window Roof shows nearly every single brick building with a similar counter flashing above the window. As metal roof professionals, we will always install metal in a manner that meets or exceeds code requirements. The counter flashing replaced gooped-up caulking that was keeping water out previously, in addition to several sharp edges and gaps. We have provided a before & after photo of your bay window on our google page for reference. We are proud of our work. Regarding the metal installer you contacted to evaluate our work; we have date & time stamped photos taken immediately after installation that do not show any large dents. The counter flashing was bolted to the brick “to code”, using lead anchors. We regret that the copper work we completed for you is overshadowing the beautiful work we completed at your home, in addition to the thousands of dollars of upgrades to your tile and gutters that we provided. There really is no grey area with building code requirements, we will always adhere to those requirements imposed by your city/county. Please feel free to contact me directly with any additional concerns, I’ll be happy to meet with you personally at your home to discuss further. Michael Dye, Owner, 303-691-5035 [email protected]
