  We recently had a storm door and windows installed at our house. The windows came with a lifetime warranty (great!), but the storm door only came with a one year warranty. About a few months after installation the UV coating for the storm door began to wear off and displays visible marks. After calling multiple times, we were able to finally get a hold of someone who was willing to talk to us. They tried to explain how the warranty was past but we explained that we called to address the issue before the warranty expired, and we offered proof to show that we called before then. They finally agreed to send someone out to come look at it. Upon having someone look at it, the technician agreed that there seemed to be an issue with the UV coating and that he will have a replacement door ordered. After waiting several weeks we never heard back from anyone. We attempted to contact the business several times and they refused to have any line of communication. The owner refused to speak with us. We finally filed with the BBB, but unfortunately it seems as if we are having to except that Window World does not have the dignity to stand behind their own warranties and policies. I try to support smaller businesses, so we decided to play slightly more and go local, however I believe I would have been better off purchasing the storm door from Lowes. If you are looking for a business that stands behind their company’s claims, look somewhere else…you won’t find that here.

  Mr. Cockburn- In light of your recent inquiry to BBB, your Larson storm door was ordered on May 29, 2020 as your contract was signed on May 26, 2020. Your first phone call into the office for service on this storm door was made on March 2, 2021, stating that there were marks between the glass upon which the first service visit was scheduled for March 10, 2021, our Service Manager took photos to submit to the storm door manufacturer, Larson. You called into the office again June 17, 2021 upon which our Production Manager Robert came out and reviewed the issues at hand with the storm door in question and again submitted photos to our Storm Door Manufacturer. On June 29, 2021, Larson stated that after reviewing the photos closely with their engineering department, the marks that are in question are in fact scuff marks on the glass and not scratch marks between the glass and stated that you as the homeowner needed to clean the marks with a cleaner such as a magic eraser and if the marks could not be removed then there would be a $410.00 charge for a new glass pack as this was not a warranty issue. Our Production Manager Robert called and left a voicemail at your home number on July 6, 2021, upon which the reason and amount was given if a replacement was needed, we did not receive another phone call from you until October 12, 2021 asking for a follow up on the service issues of which you were again told the response from Larson. Attached also is the Larson Storm Door Manufacturer Warranty: COMPONENTS: LARSON® warrants the components of the door including hardware, window sash, screen frame, retainer strips, closers, locksets (mechanical operation and finish), to be free from defects in manufacturing, materials, tarnishing and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original retail purchase. Storm Door Warranty Limitations: • Warranty only applies to original homeowners of owner-occupied residential properties and covers manufacturer’s defects. • Modification of door will void warranty. • Damage or breakage to the screen/glass insert is not covered under warranty. • Acts of nature including wind damage and flooding are not covered under warranty. • Damages resulting from improper installation or misuse are not covered under the warranty. • Labor cost, reinstallation fees are not covered under warranty. • Water damage due to lack of rain diversion or structural overhang is not covered under warranty. • Certain coastal applications, chemicals or airborne pollutants such as salt or acid rain are not covered under warranty. • Your exclusive remedy is limited to the repair and replacement of the defective product.   I would definitely NOT recommend this business at all and would highly encourage you to do your business somewhere else. It took almost a year for them to do the installation, they didn't bother to show up on the scheduled dates which cost me vacation time, the installation crew was not even close to being professional and they were extremely sloppy. They broke several items and then tried to argue with me about it. One window was the wrong size and when I pointed it out, they argued with me about that as well. To spend the amount of money that I did with this company, I expected a lot better service than this.

  After waiting 8 months for an installation date we were finally given one. We removed furniture and prepared for them. ( not easy for people in their 70's and 80's). They did not show up or call. I called after waiting more than 2 hours and was told they were not coming. I was given a date 3 weeks from now. This is totally unacceptable. They have had interest on our deposit for all this time and have not been offered any compensation. Although there were problems with scheduling today the team showed up on time and did an excellent job. They also cleaned up exceptionally well and we are very pleased with our new windows. The 2 guys who did the work were very hard working and efficient.
