  We hired Whitcher Builders to build our cottage 20 years ago. They did a great job and came in on time and on budget. About 10 years ago we developed a problem with our asphalt roof that was sourced to a manufacturing issue. Nonetheless, Whitcher Builders replaced it for us at no charge...again,10 years after the fact! We have had such a positive relationship with them over the years that we hired Whitcher this year (2019) to build a new house for us. Just under halfway done, and our experience with them has, once again, been great. Matt Huckins is a pleasure to work with and is very good at his job.

  The crew at Whitcher Builders, from Office Staff to Design Team to Project Managers and Carpenters in the field, are top notch and professional. I have enjoyed dealing with them over the years and hope to for many years to come. I recommend them highly to anyone wanting a quality construction project done.

  In 2016, a huge hemlock fell on and destroyed our original lakeside cottage build in 1950. Code now dictates that cottages be built further back from the water than was the original cottage: we petitioned for and were "grandfathered" to build on the same spot using the original lakeside width dimension. In concert with Whitcher's architect, John, we designed a compact 3 bedroom cottage with open spaces on both the first and second floors allowing comfortable accommodations for family and friends. Working with John was a dream: we had a good idea of what we wanted and with his suggestions we ended up with a cottage that is both beautiful and functional. The large family room on the second floor, with views to the lake, was masterfully designed. The project manager, Matt, could not have been nicer: as the building progressed and we decided on tweaks, Matt made them happen. There were times we probably tested Matt's patience, but if so, he never showed it. The carpenters were superb: friends who have done carpentry work themselves and have seen what the carpenters (Brad, Brian and Howard) did have all been impressed. As the project came close to the end, Brad build a wonderful ladder to the loft, used leftover wood to construct a gorgeous desk top and custom built a cabinet under the eaves. The tile subcontractor was excellent. The only negatives to the project were that it was not completed in the original time frame and the painters did not show up as scheduled. However, all-in-all, given the final product and the ease of working with John, Matt and the carpenters (especially Brad), we would re-use Whitcher.
