Bad Experience, Poor Quality. We hired Upstate NY Remodeling to redo our bathroom. During the quoting process elements were forgotten causing a change order for both foreseen and unforeseen issues. We also had some design changes we decided on last minute. We both agreed to the terms and moved forward. Things went smoothly until the last day of the project when they were rushing to finish to start another job. The finishing work was rushed and many corners were cut to get the job done quickly. During the last day we got into an argument over what ended up being an easy fix despite the disagreement in design functionality. The team then left the job rushed due to the argument and did not review their work. After being blamed for the project overruns and delay in their other jobs and loss of revenue, they agreed to come back and fix the issues. They came back and fixed the issues on the list but we are continuing to find more faults a month after the project. Two examples are loose floor tiles in the middle of the floor where the tiles were not properly set before grouting and walking on them has loosened them up and the tub spout is not properly secured and is loose and will most likely leak. Beware they quote every detail of the job individually and will "go above and beyond" and "do things out of the goodness of their hearts to help you out" but as soon as you have an issue they will go back to the quote and say "it wasn't on there so it isn't their problem." I have included the pictures from before they came back to fix things at which point I was told this is "Great work" and they "rarely have any call backs."
Response from the owner
Reviewing and discussing the facts about this project with the contractors the issue that the customer is disrespectful and swearing “F” words due to him having a “bad day” as he stated. The reason he was upset was due to the shower door was not installed the way he wanted. the door he purchased was a glass swinging door which did not have specific instructions from the manufacture on which side the door should be installed on and there was no instruction from the client on which way he wanted the glass door. So, due to safety issues and the directions of the water flow from the shower head the contractor installed the shower door on the rear wall to prevent from hitting the toilet. After the client’s disrespectful episode, they asked the client to calm down and we can correct the issue and it was going to take 10 minutes to fix it and it was corrected at the time and they proceeded take care of the final things of the project. The contractors were never rushed from the project they left the clients house at 7 pm. Based on the client’s statement on paragraph 2 it’s not correct. The contractors left at 7 pm that evening with a check from the client being paid in full of the understanding that everything was ok. My contractor called the client approximately 3-4 days after words and spoke to the client to ask if everything was ok with the project and anything he needed from us. At the time he stated that there were some issues and that he will email the items that needed corrected. We scheduled a date to meet wit the client on April 4 but the client wasn’t available until April 16th and due to personal family issues we rescheduled on April 23. Meanwhile, the clients send photos and a list of 28 items that needed to be corrected. Please understand that we had no problems taking care of any issues with the quality of our work. The 28 issues were minor in nature for example caulking that had shrank and opened that needed touched up, minor paint issues that needed touched up, and a few areas where you can see the paint through the wall. The only issue that was larger in scale was the closet shelving we installed the shelving with products that was provided by the client which was particle board shelving. We had to cut the shelving to use part of the shelving for support system and you could see the edges that were not attractive. So, we asked the client if he would like to purchase the correct material we would gladly re-installed the shelving. Please note that the shelving in the closet was not part of the scope of work originally contracted nor any change order. So, the client requested the shelving to be removed and he will install it himself, so we removed the shelving and touched up the walls as necessary. The contractors left that day on April 23rd with the understanding that the client was happy with the project and no further issues. Paragraph 4 this is also totally false we always go the extra mile to insure our clients are happy. But, we do not contract work to do work for free. I am not sure where the clients statement is coming from. We have many clients and done many works and unfortunately there is some clients that you just can never make them happy no matter what measure you take. We are posting photos of this projects because pictures say a thousand words. If anybody is reading this and need references or anything to understand that these are false statements and unfortunately, they can’t be removed all we can do is try do to better in the future to insured we have happy clients. Thanks, Stan & Sarah Sanders Upstate New York Remodeling Inc. **Please see pictures of this project on our google site.**
