  In 2016, I decided to build a restaurant in Rushville, IL. One day, I came across a Project Manager for Trotter Contracting Company from Macomb. Project Manager Tim Shield came into my store with an interest in building my restaurant. For six months, Tim Shield was convincing me that Trotter Contracting would do an excellent job in building my restaurant. I agreed to hire Trotter for the project. The contract stated that Trotter would have the building finished in 90 days. It took Trotter Contracting 10 months. The finished project had a wide variety of failures and mistakes. For example, The coloring of the floor was very poor, the drive through window could not fit a pizza box, the back doors were extremely tiny and fitting equipment through was very difficult. The food serving window could only fit one plate and the door connecting the kitchen to the dining area was extremely small. Mr. Shield offered the best performance but what I received was far from that. The sidewalks, ceiling, and the flooring had huge cracks. The square footing of the restaurant planned to be 5500 sq ft but the completed project was 4500 sq ft. After highlighting just some of the problems, Mr. Shield said they would fix them with no extra charge. I had to pay an additional $5000 to another company to fix electrical outlet issues that Trotter did not fix. Having paid Trotter Contracting the amount agreed upon, i believed to leave this mess behind and go our separate ways. After sometime, I was notified that I had a mechanics lien put on my property by Trotter Constructions subcontractor. I found out that Trotter did not pay their subcontractors and were expecting us to pay them. Overall my experience with Trotter Contracting has left me in many legal disputes, a poorly designed restaurant and with a tremendous amount of hardships I continue to face to this day. I threatened legal action against Trotter for not completing the project properly. As quoted by Chris Trotter himself "You can't afford lawyers to go against us".

  They got the bid on a swimming pool project. They had sub contractors do all the work. They had Vinson and sill out of lima ok do some of the piping. They finished in summer time but to late to open for the year. Long story short 1 of the 6 inch lines has a leak. Called them 6 times and said they would come and fix each time. Finally sent a guy down and he dug a foot deep hole and covered it back up and left. With these two contractors if you have a problem after they are done, I wouldn't expect a lot. I would not recommend either.

  I’m a contractor we just finish up a job for Trotter never worked with them before but it was an extreme pleasure working with them
