I employed Mr. Gray's business on May 7, 2018 to replace the roof on my Townhouse. I was promised the roof would be replaced in one and a half days and work would start in one week. The start day was postponed due to weather. Once the project was started on, May 23, 2018, the work went extremely slow. On the second day, I asked Mr. Gray when they would be finished and he said by 7 pm that day. When I got home, the crew was gone and my yard was a mess with trash from their lunches and roofing materials in piles both old and new. Their tools and ladders were still in my yard and the roof wasn't even half finished. I contacted Mr. Gray and was assured that my roof would be finished the next day. The next day they started ripping the roof off the front of the house. They threw the old roofing material, nails, and roofing paper all over the yard, the front porch, and my neighbors yards and porches. I complained because I was unable to exit my house. They had both the front porch and the back stairs covered with roofing mess. I was told its messy having a roof replaced and they would eventually clean it up. I went out of town for the weekend on a planned trip. I had to load my car, stepping over piles of roofing still on my porch. I was also concerned because heavy rain was predicted for the weekend. I called Mr. Gray, whom I had not seen since the second day and complained about the mess and the length of time it was taking. He again assured me the roof would be finished by the time I returned home. I expressed my concern about the rain. Mr. Gray assured me that they would be finished and the roof would be securely tarped if it rained before they were finished. When I arrived back at my home on Sunday afternoon it was pouring rain and my roof was not finished or tarped. I could see daylight through my roof. I called Mr. Gray and he wouldn't answer his phone. He did respond to a text and said he would send someone over to tarp the roof. I requested he come himself as I was very upset about how my roof was being handled. He texted he would be over in the am, but he didn’t show up until time to collect the final payment. It took another two days for the roof to be finished. During this time, our yard and porches were left a mess with trash and left-over food and drink containers, nails in bags, and other debris left on my steps so that it was impossible for me to use my yard. When they were finished there were still roofing nails, shingles, and tar paper scattered all over our and my neighbors’ yards. At the end of the job he was unapologetic and called me profanities for complaining.
