first and most importantly, they quoted us on the Certainteed Diamond Deck synthetic felt only on original paperwork. Upon installation I noticed that it was GAF vs. Certainties. The paperwork was revised only after I had spoken with Steve. I did request a couple times that they remove Certainteed Diamond Deck felt and put on the GAF, but instead they just added a additional verbage so they could legally substitute. I still have original paperwork. So i asked them why they did not install what was on the quote and that i wanted to know the price difference and a credit if the price point was different. Steve House (owner) told us the price point was comparable, but doing my own research it is not by any means comparable in price. Certainteed Diamond Deck goes for about $190 for a 250 ft roll and GAF goes for about $82 for a 1000 ft roll. so you can see that there is a huge difference. So as far as i am concerned I FEEL as though it was a bait and switch. He said the manufacturer for the Certainteed was backordered, but i found it on so many different websites and it was available. He also stated that there would be a crew installing my roof, for the most part it was a 1 man band. Other than his brother coming on the job and helping the very nice gentleman who was working on our roof. The brother was very rude to my husband. When my husband and i asked why things were not getting done as promised on the estimate. for example... the quote showed to replace dry rot, some of it was not done, but we had to bring it to their attention and ask why. Instead of addressing the issue with us ahead of time. It was like the Scope of work never got discussed with the worker.. ugh! We did get a credit for the dry rot that was not done, after and only after i brought it to their attention. I had expressed that i was concerned with the nails/staples in the backyard and they insured me that one of the crew (hahaha) would go in with a magnet and pick them up. this was done by myself and my husband by hand. ugh again. It took about a week for the job to get done. we insisted they come back and finish before the storm that was coming in got bad. Unfortunately during the middle of all this I got a phone call that my dad was passing away and that I had to leave town. My husband had to handle the rest and I never got the GAF portion put in by itself and he signed off on the additional verbage they put in. So the contract is now in there favor. Trust me I wouldn't have. I am happy with the way my roof turned out so far, It looks really good. As far as I can tell Norberto (hope I spelled it right) did an excellent job, especially for a one man band ( most of the time anyway). He deserves a raise. As far as communication... Definitely needs improvement. Professionalism.... Needs alot improvement. You don't go and give attitude to the homeowner on the job because he is/was pointing out discrepancies that are being noticed! I FEEL as though if I hadn't communicated with them, it may or may not have been addressed!? So that is part of our story... needless to say we got the 50 year roof and so we will not be needing them in the future (hopefully). but i will not send my friends and family to them.

We are sorry to hear about your frustration and the confusion which occurred in your reroofing experience. This last year has been trying for many in so many different ways. We have seen a shortage in roofing supplies. Our local roofing supply company substituted Diamond Deck with a comparable product approved by CertainTeed as they ran out of supply and we didn’t know before delivery, which is unfortunately what happened in your situation. While we thought you were aware of this possibility, we apologize that we didn’t communicate that properly through documentation. We understand you may feel like this was a bait and switch but we honestly gave you a product equal in cost and quality that is provided by the roofing suppliers. In the future, we will implement a new policy that will require documentation when such changes are made. As a family-owned business, we may have times when we may be a bit short handed due to scheduled and unscheduled time off, but we strive not to operate like that normally. In an effort to complete the current jobs before the rain hit, this was one of those times and I believe our crew worked overtime to ensure your home was ready for the rain. We are so happy to hear you found the Forman to be very nice, he is truly an asset to our crew! We are sorry to hear of how your husband was spoken to and will follow up on it. Your roof did have dry rot, but luckily it wasn’t as bad as originally included on the contract. A credit was provided on your final invoice to for the unused time and material, but we will work on making more detailed notes in the future. Please be assured, all the dry rot was completely taken care of to ensure your roof lasts as it is intended to! We appreciate you choosing Noah’s Roofing to replace your roof and apologize for any miscommunications or misunderstandings.

Steve and his team did a great job repairing our tile roof. Steve immediately understood the problem, suggested a solution, and had his people out performing the work within days. His crews are responsive, professional, and clean up afterwards.

      Response from the owner
