Disappointed with the overall customer service. I understand I am not a contractor but the contractor sent me specifically to this store for supplies I would have normally gotten elsewhere. My load of stone sill was put in the back of the trailer by the loading specialist stacked without any padding between the pieces and without any word that they were fragile and ample room in the cab of my SUV and in the front of the trailer closer to the cab. Needless to say the 3 mile drive to my house ended up breaking 8 out of the 12 pieces I purchased. This was already a repurchase as I had previously ordered from another store and didn’t like the color but was happy that Midway happened to have it in stock when I went to grab some other supplies for the install that started today. The broken stone sills were more than $120 (just the pieces that were broken). I was able to use just one of the broken ones for the two small sections but the remaining 7 pieces were/are useless to me. I called the store about it and to confirm they had more. I took the material back to be looked at and discussed my concerns on how it was loaded as I wouldn’t have known that it would all shatter where he put it. I couldn’t even lift the box to have put it where he did or put it elsewhere. I trusted the loading specialist that they wouldn’t put my materials in an area that they would know would cause it to all break on the way home. The loading specialist who loaded my mortar was super helpful and said that there was no reason the other loader should have put the stone in the back most part of the trailer (it was a uhaul trailer I don’t normally pull a trailer). The loading specialist who loaded the broken stone had absolutely no remorse or care that the location he put the stone in caused it to break. I ended up having to buy replacement pieces for the broken ones at a slightly discounted rate, but on a very tight budget as it is the extra ~$68 to buy the replacement was still very frustrating. When I loaded the replacement pieces I brought a moving blanket and layered the replacements in the blanket in the back of my cab. The guy who provided me the materials (same guy from the broken batch) was highly annoyed as he tried to again put the load in the trailer to which I told him no I wanted in the cab in the moving blanket because I couldn’t afford to buy the new pieces a third time. Anyways, I was excited for the new found store and quickly disappointed, I’d rather pay the little bit more and have better customer service and proper package handling where I usually get my supplies. Doubt I’ll be back here with the bad taste they left me with today.
Response from the owner
Thank you for your comments. We will use them to train our people. We try to do our best loading the various vehicles that customers bring into our place of business. However, we do need the help of customers to secure the loads on the equipment that they supply. We strive to be better after each sale and apologize for any issue we created.

Excellent staff, very helpful. They Let me in after 5pm when they close saving my butt on a roofing job in Topeka I had to have done that day to collect $2700.00. McCray lumber, 2 blocks away turned me away at 4:28pm, they close at 4:30, " but the guys cut out early today." I was told by someone there who could have saved me by complying with their posted hours of operation! D- never patronizing McCray again ever, at any location, in any city. Hello Midway, my new go to supplier above home depot, Lowes, and Menards for my bldg. Supplies Midway Wholesale. A+++
