Kulp roofing installed a new roof at our house in Barnesville. There were a couple problems with the install, but Kulp responded to our concerns and went above and beyond to make sure we were thrilled with our new roof. For some reason my review keeps disappearing. Updated as of 04-JAN-2022. They were sub'd for new home construction. Have a look at their work. This was your work, your lack of oversight. Own up to it.

We always strive to do our best but sometimes fall short. It's tough to address problems/issues from people we don't know. It probably would have been better served to call us directly rather than post a negative review behind the username KTM. If we don't know who you are obviously we can't resolve any issues.

Our urgent problem was dry-rotted eaves and gutter malfunction. Our solution was Kulp.

Kulp did a superb job on our very complicated eaves and roof situation and new gutters for a 1968 colonial house. The work looks amazing!

They were punctual and completed our critical, home-saving job in time.

I would strongly recommend Kulp. What impressed me most was Mr Michael Hand and his willingness to think outside the box to find a way to fix a tricky problem involving our metal shake roofing and the eaves.

There was an honest but unfortunate miscommunication about pricing afterwards, and Kulp were very reasonable and fair about addressing the miscommunication. That goes a long way with me.

These guys installed my new roofing shingles and skylights during the winter was not an ideal time for them to install ‘cause the shingles buckled (waves). They had worked on my roof and did a very good job except the business was not professional. All they care about their business but not consumers. They weren’t honest. They weren’t responding in timely fashion. One guy said he’s not coming (a day after) to inspect my roof after the Philadelphia Eagles won the super bowl. How unprofessional is that? Football versus Roofing company. Well obviously the Eagles won over the roofing company. …I highly suggest this roofing company to stick with business professionally and not watching football during business days.

I'm sorry you feel this way Doug, but rest assured there is nothing more important to us than our customers. Sometimes customers just can't be pleased no matter how hard we try. I wish you would have called three years ago to discuss and not take to a review, but to each his own!

We had gutter guards installed
on one area of our home. Great service before and after install. When we had an issue after installation, Mike  responded immediately to our after hours call and was at our house at 7:30 the next morning. Mike fixed the problem immediately to our satisfaction. He was very personable, took his time explaining what went wrong and apologized that it happened at all. He even asked us to text him after the next rain to let him know how the gutters are working.  He also gave us tips for upkeep of all our gutters. We definitely recommend Kulp and plan to use them for any future needs.

I have never seen a company leave without a trace, they cleaned up everything from the job same day. Kulp repaired my disaster of a rotted roof on my garage several years ago and it looks great and I have no complaints. I had them do my house this year removing 100 year old slate shingles. Fast, professional, clean and reasonable pricing. The flashings look great. I have recommended them and I love my new roof.  I thought I would miss the slate but the roof looks fabulous. We we're  missing  one single  from near our attic vent, after the Christmas eve storm. With more bad weather  coming,  we were recommended to call  kulp roofing.

I had a great experience with Kulp roofing. After 4 different quotes from other contractors I chose Kulp. Nick gave me 4 different quotes and spend almost an hour explaining processes and their quality products. I am very pleased with Kulp Roofing. They are friendly and tell you everything to expect. There are no hidden charges or surprises. The work was done in a timely manner and the men that did the work were respectful to me and they stayed with it till the job was done. I am a senior citizen and I was worried about clean up. Everything was cleaned up down to the last nail and  dust particles. All of the waste was put in a dumpster and removed the same day. The best part is I no longer have a leaky roof. I can't say enough about Kulp roofing.
1. The secretary was so sweet and helpful.
2. They came next day I called for an estimate.
3. Not only was their estimate reasonable, they gave me 5 separate estimates and options so I could decided what I needed and how much I wanted to spend.
4. Their communication is superb. I got follow ups regularly. What date when they were coming, they called when they arrived, they called during the process and texted me when they were finished with pictures (it was a rental property I hired them to put a roof on)
5. They were quick and efficient. The roof was finished in one day.
6. They were very friendly and professional. Even my tenant was impressed how friendly and respectful they acted.

Nothing but great things to say about Kulp Roofing! We had purchased a foreclosure home with what appeared to be a new roof. The roof joint between the house and garage was done incorrectly and we had leaks into the garage and house. Kulp was the only company who returned my call AND sent someone for a site inspection the same day! They were up front about scheduling (6-8 weeks out) and Cindy kept me updated on timing until our repair was on the schedule. The entire repair was complete in 4-5 hours and you can’t even tell that the roof has been repaired. The shingles match perfectly and our aluminum siding was put back with almost no damage! Kulp Roofing was AWESOME start to finish. I dealt with Jesse for the estimate and he was the most down to earth and nicest guy ever. He was not pushy at all and gave us a very reasonable price to re-shingle our roof. Now for the actual day of the job. Joe, who was the overseer on site, showed up 20 minutes early to assess the job and figure things out before the crew of guys got there. Joe was also one of the nicest guys I have ever met, and was there to answer any questions I had throughout the process. He periodically walked around to check things out to make sure all was well. All of the actual workers showed up right on time and IMMEDIATELY got to work. Nelson, who was the actual Foreman of the crew was also a very nice guy and also answered a few questions for me throughout the process. Due to the fact that I live in a town home, they ran into some problems with the neighbouring connected houses where there was some water leakage, but they made sure everything was done right and you can tell they take pride in their work. Replaced all the rotted wood and tweaked a couple things to make sure they were done right and not just a quick easy way. I could not say enough good about this company. It makes the entire house look new and fresh. A huge thank you to Jesse, Joe, and Nelson, and all the workers. I wish I could give them more stars.

I hired Kulp to install a roof on my house after a hailstorm and they did a great job. Shortly thereafter I had a front door installed on my house.The crew that  came to put in the door did not do a good job. I called Kulp and they bent over backwards to see that the problem was corrected and had a new crew out to my house ASAP to put in a new door. Very impressed with their dedication to providing a good customer experience. So hard these days to find contractors that you can trust or that will stand behind their work. My mom's roof on her old farmhouse in Quakertown was leaking around the chimney, turned out she needed a whole new roof.  I had to find the roofer and manage the work from Los Angeles. Nick and Phil were so nice to my mom during the estimating process.  Phil made himself available at all hours to answer my questions. Phil and Kulp construction did a great job with our roof. From the initial estimates, explaining materials and answering all our questions, everything was completed on schedule. He was a great help with assisting us in color choices and materials.  We really like the silicone boot cover for the vent spouts.  Due to some windy conditions, we had some issues with our rain spouts that Phil had pointed out to us.  He was upfront and had the the spouting replaced at no additional costs.  Great work ethic and honest.  We would definitely recommend Kulp Construction for your roofing needs.

Very happy with my experience with Kulp.  Nick spent time with us and listened to what we wanted and the whole sales process was very low pressure.  I had a few other bids on my home and there were other contractors that were trying to upsell or use higher pressure tactics.

My install was also handled very well.  The crew showed up early and were very pleasant.  It only took them about a half a day to put my roof on and everything looks fantastic.  They took extra care to make sure my property was cleaned up afterwards and left everything in great condition.

I can't recommend these guys enough if you want honest quality work done on your home.

Took months to come out to repair a couple roof tiles,  replace a gutter that was damaged during a storm, and put on a new front door. When the front door was replaced, they lined the inner and outer door knobs up and the doors could not close.  Had to come back out and re-drill holes in the new door.  I can't tell you at this time, how the roof tiles or gutter went , because they are on the roof right now trying to figure out how to do it.  I am definitely afraid to find out how it went, and would not recommend any service from this company, if you want it done on time or professionaly.  If it is not seen as a profitable job to them, it will definitely be treated that way.

I needed some repairs done to my roof, and since they had good reviews, I called Kulp Roofing for an estimate. Nick arrived at my house on time, the next day, at 8:30am. Nick was very professional in both his appearance and demeanor. He took the time to look at the problems, and also to check out the roof from all angles. We discussed the repair options, and he also made additional recommendations which I felt were appropriate. It seemed like he had my best interests in mind.

Nick provided with me with a quote two days later. The quote covered what we had discussed and I felt the pricing was fair. In the end I chose a different contractor, but I was very pleased with the service I received from Nick and Kulp Roofing.

We had been plagued by leaks on one side of our roof around our dormers for years, and the roof and been fixed twice with no stopping the leaks. Called several roofers this summer, some who never showed. Kulp came out right away, made a thorough investigation of the issues and promptly gave us an estimate, and then started work right away. Communication throughout the process was great. Everyone from the company was professional and great to work with. Job was completed in one day--which involved installing better weather protection and new shingles for the entire front side of the house where the problems were. Work was excellent and we are confident that the leak issues are now solved!

We scheduled to have an estimate done for our slate roof. When Jesse showed up, he never even got up on the roof. He seemed to be unfamiliar with slate roofs, and said that we had to make another appointment with their "slate guy".
The second guy was supposed to show up between 10 and 11, and arrives at 7:50. He performs a cursory inspection, and was not able to really explain why we are having a small leak at our chimney. When we received the estimate, there was a $450 "emergency service" charge! There was no mention of an emergency from us or them. They are also charging $92 per slate for replacement, which is at least 50% more than anyone else in the area.
They may be competent for a normal roof, but for slate, go elsewhere.

I'm sorry about your experience with Jesse, I spoke with him and the rainy weather the day of his estimate dictated him not getting on the roof. We stand behind our pricing and have a great reputation with slate. The 450 is not an emergency service charge, it's our standard service fee for Roofing repairs due to the nature of the business. I'm sorry we weren't a good fit for you, and to my knowledge you shouldn't have been charged 450 unless you agreed to do the work. Some roof repairs require a water test which we gladly perform in our 1st hour service charge. Many chimney leaks are NOT roof related and are masonry leaks. They just did our metal roof in 2 days.  After calling other roofers for a quote,  Phil is the only one that called back immediately.  Tony came out and handled all the planing. Their crew did an excellent job.  Everyone was friendly and helpful.  Phil came to check in wirh the job and spoke with us for awhile. He cares about quality and his customers.  I will definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking.

I had contacted some roofers for estimates for a complete roof replacement that are listed in Home Advisor; they came they blustered and gave me pricing, some cheap some in the stratosphere.  I actually had one do a repair on Christmas Eve when a leak developed.  Suffice to say, they didn't fix the leak and they were not invited back.

The entire team from Kulp were thorough and professional.  Nick was their salesperson and technician.  He gave me a Chinese menu of various materials starting from the base GAF roof system up to the gold medal one.  He patiently answered every one of my questions, and I am an ex-Architect/ construction manager, so I knew what to ask.  At the end, Nick left me the specs for the various materials after describing each one.  I cut them loose after making one additional change.  Phil, the Owner, actually gave me a upgrade on the ice and water material for free if I would execute the contract soon afterwards.

Cindy called to schedule the day for installation and told me how to setup the site for the crew (basically leave the driveway clear).  The crew showed up at 7:00 that morning and started their work.  Given the rain events we have been having recently, this crew went through three shower events this day and finished their work at 5:00.  Long day!  Joe was the site manager and kept everything going smoothly during the work.  Cleanup of the debris from the site was extremely thorough with the use of a magnet to pickup every nail.

Kulp will not be the least expensive, they are middle of the road, but I would rather have the job performed and installed right.  This is what Kulp did and I am very satisfied with the job and the team.  Thank you Kulp.

I had an issue with a door overhang and it wasn’t a big job, but it was time sensitive and Kulp Roofing did an excellent job of taking care of it. I called at 6:45AM and they surprisingly answered the phone. The job was quoted a little later that morning and the work was finished by lunchtime. The owner, Phil, did a great job of communicating with me throughout the whole process, from quoting to completion. He even came over the next day to go over the finished product in person and to make sure I was satisfied. It was a seamless experience in every aspect. I will not hesitate to call on them again.

Awesome experience as usual. They were able to get my chimney repair and attic ventilation done 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Tony came out on a Saturday and gave my husband a printed estimate on the spot. He was thorough and he recommended more attic ventilation for our new HE central air conditioning system instead of the solar attic fan (as recommended by the HVAC installer). I appreciate the honesty. The solar fan would have been more $$, but I was willing to pay if that was what was needed. Anyway, Tony and his guys came out, completed the job in just a few hours, cleaned up everything and took it with them. They didn't disrupt my home or my schedule. We had a rubber roof placed on our garage in Fountain Hill.  Kulp Construction provided superior service. Mr. Kulp took the time to explain the project and his estimate for the project.  He and his crew were excellent and all aspects of the project were completed within one week to the specifications written in the estimate.  We have already asked him to complete another project!!

After the recent high winds and storms, we had some shingles come off our roof. I called Phil and he came over that day to take a look. A storm. He kept the money and didn’t finish the job. My whole laundry room ceiling is caving in and he was supposed to fix it. It was part of the insurance payment. Now, I’m out the money and still have a ceiling falling down.

As for insurance payments your insurance company doesn't release payments directly to the contractor, it's always released directly to the homeowners and any other financially interested parties would have to endorse the check.

Nice people, but was told the repair team would call me. That was 3 days ago. I have called the past 2 days and got the answering service. 10am on Friday and 11:20 on a Saturday. Haven't gotten a call back, so I guess they are too busy to take my roof on. 1 star because I was told 3 days ago by an employee that I would get a call back. I have now wasted 3 days tracking them down instead of finding a different roofer.

Raised review to 3 stars because they did try to contact me after leaving this review. They did seem to care they dropped the ball, but I had already gone with a different company.

What advantage is there to using a GAF Master Elite contractor?

Poor/no communication between the estimator and the installation team.  So we reviewed the contract with the installation team ourselves.

Our existing roof uses 1/2" plywood.  Contractor insisted on using 7/16" OSB to replace sheets that needed to be replaced, except where visible underneath.  We knew about the switch to 7/16" only because we checked out the materials ourselves.  But then parts of the roof had to be taken up again TWICE to replace where they used OSB where visible anyway; not two places, they didn't replace it all the first time they replaced some in multiple places.  And then they used 15/32" plywood instead of 1/2".  And, no, I'm not going by measured thickness.  I understand that 1/2" plywood isn't actually a half inch thick, just as a 2x4 isn't actually 2" thick.  This was 15/32" plywood.  If you check your local Home Depot online you'll find that you can buy both 1/2" and 15/32".

They did clean up after the job, but nevertheless we had to walk around our property picking up debris still remaining on the ground, in shrubs, and in trees by the house.

They damaged the storm collar on our chimney, which took them 2 months to repair correctly.  More than once they said they fixed it, only for me to get on the roof myself and find they hadn't.  If you were to see the photos showing how ridiculously they tried to repair it the first couple times you'd be amazed.

They relocated a vent pipe for our plumbing in such a way that it formed a trap, violating code.  Fortunately we happened to know that this was a problem and showed them so.  Per the contract they weren't supposed to move it in the first place.  Had to have them put it back where it originally was, requiring that they pull up yet another part of the roof that they'd already completed.

While we waited for the various repairs to be made, both the estimator and the owner called repeatedly to try to get us to pay almost the entire remaining amount.  We politely pointed out that the terms of the contract were that the balance was due when the job was finished, not partly finished, not partial payment before it's finished.  We would gladly pay them right away when the job actually was done.  When they didn't like the answer I gave them, they actually tried calling my wife.  This tactic didn't work with our kids when they were young and sure isn't going to work for contractors.

When the job finally was done months later, they sent us an invoice for almost $4,000 more than they should have, because they used our check number for the deposit amount instead of the actual deposit amount.  So we had to have that corrected.

We see on the GAF warranty paperwork that they identified our roof as steep slope, but it's actually a low slope roof.

Took almost 2 months to get correct warranty paperwork from them.  The first copy listed only 5 yr warranty, though the contract stipulated 10 years, which even that was less than others offered.  To top it off, when my wife called the last time to follow up on getting the paperwork from them, the call ended with the woman on the other end rudely hanging up on her.  This wasn't nearly the first time that they didn't do what they said they'd do by a certain time, leaving us to follow up multiple times.  But until this final call they at least came across as nice people.  At this point do we even want to enlist their services again?

Their price itself actually was steep, more than anyone else's estimate, but we went with them because we had a great recommendation from a friend that we trusted, because they are a Master Elite contractor, and because we liked their idea of using two layers of underlayment because of our low slope roof.  We hope that our experience with them is not the norm, and sincerely wish them well.

I'm so sorry for your experience. We pride ourselves on providing a 5 star experience from start to finish and unfortunately we surely have dropped the ball on this one. We have zero excuses and although we can't change any of the issues you experienced we can definitely learn from this one and implement changes to insure this never happens again. Please know that the 2 of the 3 employees involved with not following up on the storm collar properly were let go permanently. We DO NOT have place in our company for employees that don't care about their job. Thank for taking the time to leave a rating and review, please contact the office if we can further assist you. As far as someone hanging up on you I'll personally look into that myself, as that would definitely be a first and won't be tolerated.

great job-windows,siding,soffit & gutters installed    Phil explained everything to be done and his workers(especially Craig) carried it out to perfection.  workers were polite,friendly and very courteous.  they worked with us to get things done right the first time and keep us happy.   Windows were installed with minimal disruption inside house.  daily cleanup outside was excellent.   neighbors came up and said house never looked better   Phil did final inspection with us present and we were very pleased with quality of work and competitive prices---would recommend him in a minute

During a recent wind storm on Easter Sunday ( 2016 ) We notice a piece of siding came loose and was exposing our outside wall up high in the pitch of our roof...I called Kulp roofing, and was pleasantly surprised  with the courteous reception I received  right from the begining.  I was given a call back within 30 minutes, by Phil...who offered to come right over and access our damage.  He arrived 30 minutes  later, not only did he look at the damage, he repaired it right then and there!!!

Professional, quick to respond, and due to it being so minor, he refused to charge us....I can't say enough about this business... old fashion values, with total respect...Thank you Phil...we appreciate  your coming to our rescue, and doing a beautiful job repairing the damage!!!

Roofing must be a really tough job in the summer working in this heat.  These guys came to my house worked well together and acted very professional.  No nail was left behind literally. After the snow storm we had a leak from a vent on the roof. I called on the Monday morning after the storm and Jessie was out by the afternoon. They had it repaired by Wednesday morning, so the service is top notch. Phil and the crew are definitely one of the best and are always available to answer questions. Definitely recommend.

I Had storm damage to my roof and happen to meet Jesse Kulp on my way home. I told him what happened and he came over right away. They made some onsite repairs that day.  The customer care and help before and after the project was beyond what I expected.

Another great job. I have used these guys before. The last tornadic winds blew serval shingles off the roof exposing my home to water damage. I used their emergency service and they were on site, assessed the problem, repaired the damage just before the next rain storm mitigating further damage. They reduced a potentially large problem to almost a non-event.
