We used Kautz Construction and its sister company, KC Green Energy, for a roof replacement and a solar electric installation. We dealt mainly with Josh, who provided detailed helpful information in a very professional, low-pressure manner while we were still shopping around for a solar installer. Because of this, we went with KC Solar.

All of the work by both the roofing crew and the solar crew was of very good quality. They were there when they said they would be and did the work in a timely way and professional manner. All of the people were very considerate and easy to work with. Josh answered all of our questions when any issue came up;

KC Green Energy installed  5 kWP solar system in 2017 and the system has been functional great. Everything was installed very professionally. No Issues with the system. Have referred several others to KC Green Energy and will continue too. Very satisfied client, and one of the best house investments I made.

Don't bother with this company.  Once they found out the service was a repair and not a new job, they stopped contacting me.  Finally I got a quote after many attempts.  The quote was $5000 to replace an inverter!  A $2,000 part and how much is installation?  Did I read that correctly?

Mike, we apologize that we were not as responsive as you needed. We make every attempt to respond as quickly as possible. We have a huge backload, due to COVID, and we must first respond to our clients for service and installations. As for the price, our service charge is from portal to portal and our tech had to visit your property on multiple occasions. It is my understanding that our solar representative worked with you on the price. Again, our apologies but I'm glad that we were able to get your solar system back up and running. As a family-owned business, we strive to make our customers happy which is why we have been in business for over 45 years.

Great installation and quality parts used.
The post-installation support is close to non-existent.
Customer service is nowhere to be found.
Solar site monitoring is sporadic, at best.
The company is either switching away from residential business or getting out of solar altogether. Oh and to the points below, the promised to compensate us for lack of monitoring, told us "check was in the mail" and two weeks later, nothing. They also closed a ticket with Solar Edge before it was resolved (still have production issues).

Jen given you removed your last negative review and added a new one, once again we want to emphasize, we did everything to resolve your issue but nothing was to your satisfaction. All of our reviews are excellent with the exception of your review although we did everything to get your system up and running as soon as we received the part from the manufacturer. Our ratings, our longevity and our client retention speak to our customer service and quality craftsmanship. KC Green Energy has been around for 10 years and is a division of Kautz Construction which has been around for 45 years. Our solar business is thriving and we have no plans of "getting out" of the residential business or getting out of solar as we pride ourselves in helping homeowners and businesses "go green" with solar. As for your check, it was sent on the day we stated, we provided you the check number and a copy of the check stub as proof that the check was issued. When you complained of not receiving it, we immediately reissued a new check and canceled the lost check which cost us an additional $35. We are an honest company and integrity is part of our core values so lying about a $77.81 check is not how we do business. As for SolarEdge monitoring and production issues, there have not been any alert issues since we got your system back up and running over a month ago. SolarEdge reporting can confirm this to be true. SolarEdge is the monitoring company and we are the installers, as such, we cannot close a SolarEdge ticket. SolarEdge closes a ticket when it has been resolved or when they complete their review and conclude that there are not any production issues. The "ticket" was closed by SolarEdge because there were not any issues with your system. There have not been any more issues with your system so hopefully, we can move forward.

First reply to negative review that was removed by customer.
Jen, once again we apologize that you did not receive an initial report when your inverter went down. As we stated, Solar Edge has been experiencing issues with their email alerts. You do have monitoring available to you, so we are not in breach of contract. Both Dee and Dylan have been working continuously to resolve the email alert issue with Solar Edge. In addition, they have kept you abreast as updates were available.

We have tried everything to resolve your issue, but nothing we did or suggested was to your satisfaction. In good faith, to help smoothen the issue, we sent you a check to compensate for the inconvenience. Within 3 hours of your initial call to us, we had the RMA processed with Solar Edge and your inverter was ordered. Solar Edge sent the inverter, and we received it in 5 business days at 11:36 a.m. on August 29, 2019. Within 5 minutes of receipt of the inverter, at 11:41 a.m., Dee sent you and your husband an email informing you that the replacement part arrived. The email stated that we could send our technician out the same day to replace your inverter and get your solar system back up and running. Instead of approving our service visit to replace the inverter, free of charge, your husband suggested we remove the entire system at our expense. Removing the system, at our expense, when you have never had any workmanship or installation issues is not a solution especially given, we have a free solution.

As for Solar Edge and Tesla being in PA, Solar Edge is not a competitor or ours. We are one of their certified installers. Tesla was available when you were initially searching for solar installers. You had a contract with them and canceled it and chose us as your solar installers.

Jen, Dee nor KC Green Energy has ever had any bad reviews. On the contrary, our reviews, our longevity, and our A+ Better Business rating speak to our workmanship, customer service, and integrity. We are ready to replace your inverter and have your system up and running again but the decision is yours. We will wait to hear from you to replace your inverter.

I design and manage the installation of utility-scale PV projects and KC helped me with an install on my own residential roof.  The team lead and installers have worked installing PV for many years and it showed. These guys knew what needed to be done and the tips and tricks to get it done right - with high quality. It wasn't their first rodeo.
