This is a continuation of my wife's review. We hit our character limit. Pros: 1)Got on my job quickly. I was expecting a longer wait. 2)Justin was willing to get on the roof and let us know about the insurance claim. 3)The siding crew did a very good job on the siding, clean lines and matches the existing house in most spots. Cons: 1)Not the roof valleys we wanted. 2)Did not install roof vents as asked and still tried to charge for them. 3)Did not use the materials I asked for in construction. 4)Justin seemed very disconnected once the sale was made. I never heard from him first asking how I was liking it. All of our communications were me informing him of issues. 5)There was times when they would tell me they would be out Monday, and I may not see them till Friday without any explanation. Sometimes longer. I would go 2 weeks without a word or sight of them. 6)All of the crews liked to leave behind trash for me to pick up. Wrappers from the shingles, boxes from the gutter/siding crew, screws all around. The construction crew left behind a 10” table saw blade on the ground for my 2 year old to find. Overall, very messy workers. 7)I feel like there is very little communication between management and work crew. I would tell Justin about an issue, he would say OK. Then when a crew showed up, they wouldn’t know what the issue was. 8)There was very little English spoken by the roofing crew, even the lead who, every time I looked over, was sitting in his truck. I don’t know why I should have had to pay for him to be there. Very hard to communicate.

I really wish there was an option for 2.5 stars, because that is really how I feel about the job H&H did for me and my family. Not great, but not terrible, very middle of the road and average. I definitely feel that the siding crew did a better job overall than the roofing crew as well. My wife and I were wanting to do a home addition and I have to admit, at first, I was very impressed with Justin and H&H. Justin actually got on our roof, looked it over, and told us it was actually hailed out. You couldn’t tell it by looking, but the adjuster said the same thing. This here saved us about $6,000 in insurance. This really put them on my good side. Day one of the project, tearing off the existing roof. Our existing valleys were done in a woven shingle style and we really liked that look and we asked if we could do the new roof in that style. Crew said no problem. When installed, it was what I believe is called a cut valley, which has a definitive line. This is usually done to save time by the contractor. They never asked if that was what I wanted, it was just done that way. Not really what we wanted, but no way to change it. I brought this up to one of the guys and he just gave me a blank stare. There was also several shingles they had to come and redo due to them coming up. Next issue came with roofing the addition. I had planned to have them install 3 roof vents for me and noticed that when the roof was done, there were no vents. When I asked the crew where they were, I was told that they were not sure how to install in the type of roof I had installed, which was SIPS panels. I was also at home most of that day and not one person asked me about it. This led to me having to purchase a thermostat controlled gable fan. When I received the bill, I was still billed for the vents. If I hadn’t caught that, it would have been and extra $150. Not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, but if this slipped through, did anything else? Next issue was the connecting of the two rooms. We placed our addition about 2 feet from the existing and were going to stick build over to it. I planned on doing this myself but ran out of time so I asked H&H. I told the foreman that I had 2x6s purchased for this and had them stacked up next to the addition. I wanted 2x6s just mostly for insulation purposes . When I got back home that day, I had one wall installed, with 2x4s they purchased. When I asked one of the crew about it, he said he asked his foreman about the 2x6s I had laying there and the apparently the foreman preferred to use his own. That’s fine, if they would have used the right boards. They also left about a 1.5”x1.5” hole in the wall below the siding. I had to ask them to fill it. They used spray foam. They also installed/replaced our gutters. There is several spots where down pipes are crooked/out of line. The leaf guards on the gutters look very unclean in several areas. Gutters also seem to slope downhill in a few spots. So, all in all, like I said, I would best describe H&H as average as best. I will probably go elsewhere in the future.

In addition to performing the construction work well, H & H spent extra time to make sure that we were happy with the quality of the work and to cover some extras that we had specifically requested in detail. We are very pleased with the final product and with working with H & H overall.
