I just recently had a new roof put on by FIREHOUSE ROOFING and they did an OUTSTANDING job. My roof had 4 layers of shingles & Brenda’s crew had my roof installed in one day!! I found Brenda to be the most professional, honest n trustworthy individual I have ever dealt with. Being a retired Marine & Former Drill Instructor, I am very diligent with inspections n reading people! I am 1000% satisfied with my roof & she will be the person I call when I’m ready to replace my outside railing and any other projects that I need done. You can’t & won’t be wrong trusting Brenda and Firehouse roofing!

Want the work completed? Don’t use this company. After a few hail storms, we had a handful of roofers come by trying to get our insurance money. But Jonathan (or Andy, still unclear what his name actually is) of Firehouse Roofing in Kansas City had just done our neighbor’s roof so I actually reached out to him. That was on June 3. As we were going through the process of making the insurance claim, he was very responsive and all too eager to come by at the drop of a hat, almost too eager. I wasn’t entirely comfortable with the situation — when I asked him what a new roof would actually cost, he told me he’d go off of what the insurance company was willing to pay. Sketchy? Probably, but he was willing to walk me through the entire process and handle all the paperwork, and I didn’t really want to have to deal with large sums of money going in and out of my bank account. So, we signed some contracts and signed our entire homeowners’ insurance check over to him with the promise he would give us an entirely new roof — which we explicitly agreed would include replacing some of the ugly patching that had been done by another company earlier in the year after a leak — and new gutters. The roof was replaced in mid-August but I noticed immediately that the spots the other roofers had done were still the ugly patching. On August 24, I sent Jonathan/Andy a photo of the unfinished spots and asked him to finish it. He wrote back immediately saying he’d take a look and get it finished ASAP. He never did. On September 22, I noticed that one of the gutters makes a horrendous sound (like a large metal plate is being dragged down the street) when there’s heavy rain due to a bad connection. I sent an email following up about the other work and included a photo and detailed description of the gutter issue, and he said he’d take care of that, too. On November 20, after our large oak tree had shed all its leaves, I noticed there was a pack of shingles/random roofing trash left on the northeast corner of the roof, and wrote him asking to take care of that, finish the unfinished spot I originally wrote about on August 24, and the gutter issue I’d noticed and contacted him about on September 22. On November 26, someone came by to get the trash off the roof (I wasn't home) but the other two issues remained. On December 6, I inquired about when all the work would finally be done and when I didn’t hear back, I wrote back December 9, demanding the work by the end of the week, and asking him to let me know when he’d be by so I could be home and/or warn the babysitter, and make sure the dogs weren’t in the yard. He told me he’d let me know when he’d be by, but never did. The next day, he showed up at my house when I wasn’t there, then sent an email asking me to confirm the issues — the issues I had specifically laid out over multiple emails that included photos with issues circled in red, specific locations on the house, and how I’d like them completed. But he left and the work did not get done. He said he’d be back and asked if I had trim paint (which I don’t think is necessary, but said if I didn’t have it, he would have it matched — and either way would not disturb me). Apparently, he came back again, when I was not home, sent an email looking for paint, and left. Over the next few days he provided me multiple excuses regarding paint, weather, etc., and on December 12, promised the work would be done “on Wednesday” (December 18). Now it is December 27 NOTHING HAS BEEN FIXED since August. He says he laid shingles in the unfinished spot, but I don’t see any difference and it still looks horrible, the gutter still makes a horrendously loud and grating noise when there’s heavy rain — and it’s unfortunately right outside the room that will be for the baby I’m having in two months. And he has our entire homeowners' insurance check so we can’t even afford to hire someone else to come fix this. So, as I said, do not use Firehouse Roofing in Kansas City if you actually want your job completed.

It took several months to get the job started. The contractor decided to begin work when I asked if I should take my business somewhere else. The contractors cut our cable and telephone lines and left them on the ground. They cut the wires to our outside electrical outlet and never informed us. When I asked about these acts I was told it is common. I had to call them back multiple times to properly complete the work, and even then had to argue with them that both sides of the house should look the same and be flush. They did the work on Jul 07, 2017, but I have yet to receive my paperwork on the project as of today even after multiple calls. (4/5/2018)
Response from the owner
The roofing contractor that was was handling this committed suicide. All issues and paperwork were addressed when final payment was received.
