Hired F&J Builders to replace our shingle roof and 2 skylights back in September, 2021. We looked at multiple companies and decided F&J was the best value when it came to the combination of price and quality of materials and service. They communicated well, sent me pictures of stripped roof and plywood replacement. Did the job quickly and came back multiple times to magnet sweep. We had one small ventilation issue to be compliant with the manufacturer’s warranty and they came out and fixed quickly and everything came in at the original estimate.

F&J Builders was very professional from start to finish of my roofing and siding project. Any questions or concerns I had were always answered with complete knowledge of the products being used. They were always honest with me and never tried to sell me products I didn't need. I'd use them over and over again!

After years of waiting we decided to get our Kitchen remodeled. We researched local companies and F&J Builders stood tall. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. The employees were on time, safe, professional and were more than happy to answer any questions we had during the process. If you want a high quality finish you can't go wrong with F&J.

We contacted F&J Builders after seeing their name pop up again again on HGG (Hockessin Gossip Girls fb group) for some work on updating our master bathroom. Their designer came out and we talked about what I wanted done and I told her I wanted to see a few options because I was having a hard time visualizing the changes. She asked for a budget, I told her, and my estimate was low because the price of materials has gone up, inflation, etc and I understand that. I asked her for a rough number and she gave me an estimate, which I was fine with.
We go into the office to see her ideas. She only presents us with 1 idea, after I asked for a few options, and gave me a more firm estimate that was MORE THAN DOUBLE what she initially told me. She claimed this was because the estimate included all “top of the line” items. So I asked for more options and my husband wanted to see an itemized list to see why it was costing more than double. I never heard from them again.
If you’re on HGG and are seeking a “reasonable” contractor, DO NOT contact this company. They probably won’t get back to you anyway.

Hi Sarah, upon reviewing the quote you were given and speaking with our designer, I’d like to offer a better explanation from our end.
As for multiple layout ideas, you were presented with the layout that our designer felt would work best with the size and shape of the space, as well as accommodating everything you wanted in it. While no doubt there are other options for laying out the bathroom, those options would have required significantly more work and labor, and our designer was already aware that the quote was higher than you may have been anticipating. It is difficult to give rough estimates on bathrooms as there are so many variables, but we do try our best to work with each project to meet their budget as much as possible depending on layouts, constraints, and our customer’s wish lists. The quote given to you was by no means a final number and meant more to see if we are within a range that works for you. Our designer prices everything at a mid-grade price level, as no product has been selected yet at the time of the quote. The quotes list allowances for the various products included - for example yours listed things like a $1200 allowance for the tub or $10 per square foot of tile, which was only used for estimating purposes and could then have been adjusted if you chose to move forward and wanted to cut back.
I apologize if these things were not properly explained and that you feel the communication was lacking. F&J Builders would like the opportunity to revisit the quote with you and provide you with more information as well as revisions to better suit your budget needs.

I reached out Francis and his team to fix some problems we had with a previous contractor.  Francis and the entire F&J Team corrected the issues, and did a wonderful job.   We called them back to do another project and they knocked it out of the park.  They converted an office into a first floor laundry and office nook; and coordinated the installation of hardwood flooring on our entire first floor.  F&J is currently doing a 3rd project/job by renovating our 20 year old bathrooms!!  Would definitely recommend them and would use them again in a heart beat.  Cannot say enough wonderful things about F&J.  Thanks Francis & Jenny!!  You guys rock!!
