  We used Doug Hodge’s company to have a new tin roof installed over our deck and over our the rest of the house. The deal was to give Doug 1/2 down at the start of the project ( which was 3 weeks after he was given the check of $14,000.00+) and the remainder upon completion. His crew, which consisted of two men, Kevin and Ben, showed up for 4 hours the first day and never put in more than 1 five hour day. We were told the entire project would take two weeks. Keven and Ben got the rafters up and part of the plywood. Doug told my husband he needed the rest of the money to buy more materials as he couldn’t “trust” that we would pay him. There was no way he had purchased $14,000.00 in material and labor and he was not going to get anymore until the project was completed. We asked for an itemized list of materials and he replied “ I don’t do that”. He refused to return phone calls. The project is unfinished we have to hire someone else to complete it.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Spare yourself the grief!

  Doug Hodge did a roof for us.It cost just shy of $10,000. In less than 1 year, we had a huge leak.In a place that NEVER leaked..as long as we have owned our home.He did not re-flash, either chimney, after doing the roof.He did not install the vent pipe diverter, as stated in our contract.The employees,(Kevin and Thomas..who did the work.) told us what they thought we wanted to hear.The job took FAR longer. Mr. Hodge shorted the materials list.We had to wait longer.Kevin and Thomas left nails and garbage, and did not do a great job of cleaning up.They rushed to be done and start another job in Orleans,VT.We had guests and ,we discovered the leak and called Doug Hodge, repeatedly.HE NEVER returned our calls.!!!!(He guaranteed his work for a year.)I started sending messages on Facebook.He responded ,a week later.Sent Kevin to fix.I asked what the fix was(on Facebook)...he said roof cement.."that would last longer than the house."They put the cement on. We hired another company to re-flash, as he was still not responding. We wanted to discuss the problem.It cost us an additional couple thousand dollars, to repair the leak, and re-lash.There was NEVER any flashing. Just gobs of tar.The photos that we got from the firm we hired to flash, were telling.The chimney had a huge long rectangular hole, that Kevin put a block of wood in, and re-tarred.The roofing metal did NOT even meet the brick.It had to be flashed. The furnace chimney as well.Doug Hodge NEVER got up on a ladder to see what was going on.We never got ANY photos of what was done.Kevin did a poor, and cheap job on the metal roof trim.We complained, to no avail.Mr Hodge should have called back to discuss the problems. He chose to ignore us. DO NOT use him.He is NOT a proper roofing contractor. He is completely unprofesional. He will not return your calls, once he has his MONEY. We are taking him to small Claims.I hope this will not happen to anyone else.

  My new roof came out nice. Doug needs to find better sub contractors. The guys who did my roof were very very, clumsy. They cut an old lilac tree of mine with out asking. They only had to tie it back, out of the way. They left garbage, took hours for lunches and didn't start work till later into the morning. Also left early afternoon for the day. The job that should have been done in 4 days max, took 3 1/2 weeks. I saw a few times of them throwing metaI scrapping and hitting the new roof. That is not professional I had spoke to Doug about these issues, his response was Oh Ya, hummm, they seem like nice guys to me.This Doug Hodge is the one in St.Johnsbury.
