DFW Elite did a great job on our roof. Our friends recommended them and they made it really easy. They upgraded our roof for free, the yard was left perfectly clean, and we barely had to spend time dealing with our insurance. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality roofer.

Based on my personal experience with Nick, I would not use this roofing company. They advertise a free estimate on a new roof but in actuality if it is an insurance claim as mine is they will not give you a written estimate according to Nick. My house is paid for and the insurance issued me a check to get a new roof. I contacted this company based on a recommendation from a co worker. I wanted to get a bid on replacing my roof with upgraded shingles and synthetic underlayment. According to Nick, they don’t do cash bids. They work for the insurance company exclusively. It seems to me they don’t want the homeowners to know how much their roofing system costs and won’t put it in writing. They only deal with insurance companies. They want the homeowner to blindly hand over all the checks from the insurance claim and no one is the wiser. Sorry, I have the right to know how much my new roof will cost before I sign off on anything. Nick said the upgraded shingles were expensive and he didn’t know if the insurance would compensate me for that. That is none of his business, I would gladly pay an additional amount. They just lost a customer who needed a complete new roof. Be wary if they refuse to let you see any numbers.

    Response from the owner

Dan M. contacted us for a bid and specifically requested synthetic underlayment and ice/water shield in the valleys, and dimensional shingles, which are all pretty standard products. He also asked for a bid that included Category 4 shingles, which are usually much higher cost. When asked if he had filed an insurance claim he stated that he had and it had been approved. I informed him that we work directly off of the insurance estimate and gave a description of our warranty/insurance structure. We do not engage in cash bid competitions for two reasons: 1) It is usually a race to the bottom of quality. We don’t compete to be the cheapest and we don’t put low quality roofs on houses just to get the job. I have had multiple conversations with home owners who stated that they should have used us instead of the cheaper company because of the low level service and poor installation they received by saving a few hundred dollars. 2) When there is an insurance claim involved, the insurance company sets the scope of work and pricing, period. If a roofer comes in cheaper than the insurance estimate they likely cut corners and risk financial impact to the customer if the insurance company discovers it. If the homeowner is trying to keep some of the insurance proceeds that can be seen as insurance fraud. Roofers must disclose what was spent on the project to the insurance company and if the amount spent is lower than the insurance estimate it can result in penalties or charge backs to the roofer and/or home owner. The benefits to allowing your roofer access to the estimate and/or claim is that if the insurance company has missed something (leaving off the ridge cap/miscalculating the size of the roof, etc.) your roofer can ask for supplemental payments to cover the cost instead of passing it on the you the homeowner. These miscalculations can be in the thousands of dollars. Unfortunately Dan M. disagrees with our business model and we respect his opinion and right to choose his contractor. We sincerely hope that Dan M. has found a roofing contractor that meets his needs and wish him luck on his project. Sincerely, Nick Morrow, MBA DFW Elite Roofing

DFW Elite Roofing went above and beyond to make sure all was done above my expectations. They dealt with my insurance directly and took care of all repairs related to my claim from beginning to end. I highly recommend them.
