We had a very nice sales man out the beginning of October who provided us with a reasonable estimate to have all of our vinyl siding replaced. In our contract it states the style I selected it also gave us a time line of 10-14 weeks. Week 6 rolls around and I get a text from the sales rep. Of course I am very excited and expecting him to tell me they have the job scheduled. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I was told the vinyl I chose is no longer available. Ok that’s fine they can get the same color just a different style. Not a huge deal. But why after 6 weeks are we just finding out that they can no longer source the material? I reached out to the office the beginning of January I was told we would be on the schedule in 2 weeks. I called again the beginning of February and left a message for scheduling. I have still not heard back from them. At this point I would think they just abandoned the job since I can not even get a 2 minute phone call to let me know what is going on. I had very high hopes for this project since our first interaction with cook was so great. But after that contract was signed we have just been put on the back burner and ignored. We also took out extra on our mortgage to have this project done so it hurts a little to be paying so much interest on a job that isn’t even done well not even started! I wish I would have read the reviews prior to signing with them. All I ask is for honesty. If they would have told me they don’t know when they could start the project or even follow up and say hey it could be 6 months. I would have been happy with that. The bait and switch game is not nice nor professional.

      Response from the owner

Nikki, Could this be under a different name by chance? We don't have any contracts or paperwork under your first name and no one with the last name long? We would love to figure this out and make it right for you but we need information from you please contact Mallory Cook at 389-6104

I was in need of a good siding contractor but also wanted a good service dept. after install was complete. I found both of those at Cook Siding and window company. Remember with any job there will be hiccups, my first was the company sent wrong color corners with my siding order but within 2 weeks the service team corrected that. My next was my gutter leaked but again that week the service team corrected that issue. Drew Sirry my project mgr., stayed on top of it and kept me informed . The project went well but remember when choosing a siding contractor get one that has a great back end service dept. You will find that at Cook siding and window. They will definitely do all my future projects! Trust me Drew will take good care of you.

UPDATE: Jesse, the company owner, worked with me to complete the job. He is a very professional and apologized for the concerns I had. In addition, he knocked a much larger amount off my bill and completed the job in a reasonable time. I really think that Cook Siding is a good company but that my incident was an unusual circumstance. Overall, I can recommend them now that the owner addressed my concerns. I'm sad to say that my job is still not finished after paying $21,000 for new windows, siding, and gutters. After 6 months of waiting, dozens of phone calls, tons of texts, and lots of emails, I am unable to get them to finish the work. I've tried to be patient, and I understand that COVID has influenced production, but I am so tired of companies blaming everyone else. They told me it would be 6-8 weeks from signing the contract to installation, but it was over 14 weeks until they initially came out, and it's now been over 6 months. I want everyone to know that they have their customers sign a contract that says "We are not responsible for manufacturer errors," so if you have a problem, they will blame the manufacturer and insist that it's not their problem. I am not dealing with the manufacturer, though- I am dealing with Cook. They should stand behind their products and install within a reasonable time. If they fail to install within a reasonable time, they should offer a significant discount to take responsibility rather than blaming others. They did offer me a $400 discount, but that is 1% of the total, and given the amount of work I've invested in this job, that feels absurd and pathetic. As far as service is concerned, I'm sorry to say that my salesman was very helpful before I signed the contract, but afterwards, he did not follow up on his promises, and has pawned me off to other employees. Also, their workers hung my electrical box extremely precariously, and my electrician says that my house was in serious danger of a fire. I showed this to my salesman (who finally came back out when I insisted), but he never followed up with me. I also had 5 incorrect window sashes (broken when delivered/installed as well as incorrect grid patterns). Four different window installers have come out on 3 different occasions, and the job is still not done. If the salesman had sent a window specialist out to my property to measure/order the windows as promised, perhaps these issues wouldn't have occurred. In fact, my salesman promised quite a lot that he never actually did. I want to say that Cook does seem like a nice company, but my gut feeling is that they are tremendously busy and that I've fallen through the cracks. I don't want to hear them blame anyone else; I want a significant discount, and I want the job done. I suppose that I'm going to have to file a claim in small claims court, but that is not at all what I wanted from this experience. What happened to contractors who offered quality products and stood behind those products rather than passing the buck?
