  I am not one to write reviews but wanted to save other homeowners the potential hassle in working with Dave Wandel and Charis Contractors. We had our roof replaced by Charis in April of 2016, and the roof is/has already leaked in two locations. One of the issues was apparent immediately after they completed the installation, causing buckets of water to come into the house. Dave came to assess the roof and issue, and mentioned that he would be back to fix it what he thought the issue was but he or any of his crew never came back. I had to remove 5 sheets of water damaged drywall and install a temporary funnel system to capture the the leaking water into two 5 gallon buckets. The ultimate issue was repaired by another company after they determined the shingles were improperly installed in at least this particular section of roof. To be clear, I emailed and called Charis at least two more times after Dave's "assessment", as I wanted to give them a chance to repair the issue given I was and still am under warranty. Since then the roof has developed leaks across a different 4ft x 8ft piece of sheathing that Charis had replaced during the original install. I have called and emailed the company 2 more times this year and have yet to receive a call back or response via email to at least acknowledge the situation or offer a solution. Given my 4 year ordeal in dealing with Charis, I have no choice but to rate the workmanship as very poor and the responsiveness as non-existent. Please call a different company to do your roof!!

  I cannot find any indication in our records of having done any work for anyone named "Jon" that had any warranty issues with their roof 4 years ago. Of course, you have not included your name or address. Here at Charis Contractors we provide warranties from 5 years and beyond depending on material selection and we always honor our warranties. I question the validity of your review and whether you were even a customer of ours. Why did you wait 4 years to post a review? You make no mention of any damage to your drywall or floors. If you indeed had "buckets" of water come into your house there would have been extensive damage to the ceilings and floors. A homeowner has many avenues of recourse against a contractor who doesn't honor their contract yet you have not taken any action other than this review. I believe you to be either a competitor or a disgruntled former employee. If you are indeed for real please feel free to reach out to me so we can resolve your problems.

  Highly recommend! My parents got their roof done and after seeing what a great job they did, I had my roof done too. David is very nice and very professional. He knows his stuff! Other roofing companies I had come out for an estimate... They took days to get me a quote. David came to my house the same day that I called and he gave me the quote on site and then emailed me the quote. Great job.

  A few months ago I contacted Charis Roofing to repair a leak, remove part of a chimney, and cover the remaining hole. After the repair was made I found a 12 inch by 1 1/2 inch long gaping hole left by the workers. I also found there was no drip edge, and some exposed wood. I informed the owner via email about the gaping hole and exposed wood, and even sent pictures but didn't get a response. I then called and spoke with the owner who grudgingly agreed to send someone to look at the problem. The workers showed up without prior warning and rough cut a piece of flashing and placed it over the gaping hole and exposed wood. I later found roofing nails laying on the roof and nails driven directly into the shingles around the repair. Though it look shoddy and careless, I overlooked it in hopes it had fixed the problems. A short time later the roof in the same area began leaking again. I called and left messages twice and sent an email to the owner and got no response. Weeks had passed without a response. Since the leaking was worsening and causing more damage. I contacted another contractor to fix the twice faulty repair by Charis. Two different contractors, without any prompting, commented on the poor workmanship and obvious problems that would lead to continued and future leaks. Once I selected a contractor, they installed ice/shield in two places, step flashing, drip edge and new shingles. This isn't the first time I have worked with Charis Contracting and have had to be aggressive about getting things corrected or just let a shoddy job slide. The money I paid for the initial repair was $750 and the cost to fix it was $1500 leaving me out $2250. So, I could not, in good faith recommend Charis Contracting, LLC. As of today's date, 9/6/2018, there hasn't been any response from the owner to make it right or rectify the problems. Poor business practices across the board.
