My family and I have used Carlson brothers for multiple roofing projects. On multiple roofs that they have installed, we have had leaking within 4 or 5 years of installation. One of the roofs We've had them out to repair once already and it is leaking in the same spot again only 3 years later. They refused to do anything for me on price other than take $100 off. Terrible customer service where it's constantly playing phone tag to get in touch with someone. I was a loyal customer of Carlson Brothers but will not be using them again.

Buyer Beware!! Unfortunately, I chose Carlson Brother's roofing back in 2001 to replace my roof. About a week after they installed the roof, I went up and inspected the job. There were multiple issues where they did a very poor job (see the photos). I asked them to fix it and they eventually came out on did some repairs, which turned out to be covering the problems with tar. Not knowing any better at the time, I thought everything was fixed. Move forward about 9 years and my roof started leaking. I was able to get them to come out and "fix" the problem which again was them slapping on more tar. I later learned that they didn't do any flashing along the edges of the dormers which is where the leaks are. After another 9-10 years, the roof started leaking again. I guess that it takes about that long for the tar to wear away. So, despite installing a 30-year roof, I'm going to have to have the roof replaced and done correctly this time. I'm sorry I didn't know better 20 years ago and would have made them re-do it correctly or sued them. Of course I need to have the ceilings fixed as well.

I think they must be going out of business, or just not very responsive to prospective customers. I had Dan Carlson come out to my address in June 2020 for an estimate on a metal roof over a BBQ pit area in my back yard. To his credit, Dan was at my house the very next day to look at the job. Told me it was not all that complex, and I would have an estimate by the end of the week. The estimate never arrived, so I gave him a few more days. Then, I emailed him direct several times on an ETA for the estimate -- all without a single response. I then called the office and they said he was waiting to hear back from the manufacturer to finalize the price quote. I never heard back, so went with another contractor and the Metal Roof came out great. Its a shame as my preference would have been to support a local contractor during this crazy time of Covid-19. They have so many great reviews, that when my sky light started to leak, I decided to them give them another shot. A different Carlson brother showed up in early August 2020, again he came the very next day following my call, and told me he could fix the problem and the indication was this should be a relatively small job. He wasn't able to get on the roof right then as it was raining out. After one or two more storms, the rain damage was getting worse, so I called the office for an ETA to schedule this work. This time, I didn't get a call back --- but a text message from Denise arrived about a week later (after several calls) with a possible timeline of 4 to 6 week out to schedule this work. After one to two more storms, I tried every possible way of contacting them -- multiple phone calls, multiple voice mail messages, multiple text messages back to Denise, multiple emails, I even stopped my their E Main St (Ramsey) address (no one was at the address). I was trying to ask to see if they could tarp the area to try to prevent further water damage until they could schedule the work. Not even a single call back or single text message back or single email back. They essentially abandoned me as a client (for the second time). All while, the damage was getting worse resulting in $1000's of additional water related damage. I ended up calling Murray from Segelman Shaw Roofers, who was there the very same day to nail down a tarp and stop further water damage from occuring. Granted, they were not the least expensive (nor was I asking for the least expensive contractor), but the job got done. If you want guys to come out the next day to look at the job, and then fall off the face of the earth, then Carlson is the right contractor for you. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere.
