Ok, so, there's a serious problem here. From day of quote to day of scheduling, things were fine. I own a concrete construction business, so I take scheduling and timing seriously. Clients need to know exactly what day and time construction work is going to be done and how long it takes. This is a simple concept. I also understand when scheduling has to suddenly change, as work and the days work gets done is a constantly shifting task. The day before the scheduled date of work, they pushed back a week. Understandable, though it would be nice to get a further heads up; but, again, I get it. It isn't always possible. The day comes around, gets pushed back again; but this time I had to be the one to call the day of to see where they were, only to find out they needed to push it back. Four weeks this happened. I began to anticipate the failure to communicate and perform my own customer service by calling a day ahead of time. Then one day, not at all on any scheduled day, I get a phone call that they are simply there and trying to start the work without me present. Obviously, I call and tell them to stop. It was only by accident that I just happened to be free to run over there right away. So the work gets done. The work itself is good and they finished in a timely manner, but here's where things get really bad. One of their workers offers a number for a shade screen guy named Steve that does work as a side job. Ordinarily, I would not hold Bill's Awnings responsible for whatever side job guy I contacted. However, this man that came recommended was so bad and so wrong with how he did business, someone MUST be held accountable. At the very least, hopefully this review will cause whomever works in Bill's Awnings to never recommend this man to anyone ever again. First of all, a one day job took him two months of showing up whenever, and doing maybe an hour or two of work. He provided a bid proposal to which we both agreed to and I paid most of it up front. Yet, throughout the frustrating weeks he consistently complained about not being paid enough. Twice he asked for more money, and both times I simply, and politely reminded him that I intended to stick to the agreed bid proposal. As a professional myself, I found the very notion of asking for more money during a job extremely concerning and unprofessional. If I need to do a change order I provide extensive details to my clients, and I only do those change orders if the scope of the work has changed during the job. There was no point in which changes were made to this job to merit asking for more money. As he approached the end of his work, only having one shade screen panel left, he demanded the rest of the money. Though I wasn't happy with the work or the timely manner of it, and against reservations that the job was still left unfinished, I still wanted to maintain an attitude of trust and kindness, making every effort to be understanding. The final panel of shade screen was left untouched for weeks. Finally, over a weekend he finished the last panel. That's when it happened, the absolute lowest of actions, the most unethical of things to hear from anyone you have paid and given every ounce of patience to. He said, "Give me a hundred more dollars, or I'm taking the panels off." Even now, those words fill me with a burning fury and anger I can barely control. In the moment, I decided a hundred dollars was worth never having to see this piece of garbage of a man ever again. But the principle of it makes me so furious, I am still considering pursuing both Steve and Bill's Awnings legally, pulling everyone into a court dispute. It needs to be CLEAR, crystal, one hundred percent clear, that this kind of thing, this kind of business practice, whether it be from a main job or a side job, can NEVER be tolerated, NEVER be acceptable. My business slogan is 'honest, quality' and I model all my actions to be in line with that concept. I can say that I did not feel as though either of those standards were met from either the Bill's Awnings 'professionals', or the unforgivable sidejob guy.

I hate to post bad reviews but this place is pretty bad. They do have a nice selection of awnings and panel roofing materials but if you don't know exactly what you want then they can be difficult to deal with. There is a guy there who refused to take back an item he sold me after I told him what I really needed. He then raised the price on the correct item and gave me 10% off. I apologize if I didn't make this clear but the guy is a pistol and he clipped me for about 25 bucks. If you go there be sure you know what you want.
