  I highly recommend staying away from Big Sky Customs. I have had an outstanding hail claim with them for a year without completion. Jon took money upfront for the job and that was my mistake for giving any money until complete. Billings has had a lot of bad contractors with our hail storms and I thought Big Sky Customs was one you could trust, being local. I just expect businesses to preform their hired jobs. After another demanded payment in March 2021 for windows, I followed up in June to check status. There was no response. After discussing with my insurance agent, I decided that I needed to hire a new contractor to take over due to poor communication. After a few weeks of trying to get Jon to have the materials transferred to another contractor for install, I was informed there was nothing. The new contractor informed me, not Jon. There was no communication on cost, materials or anything, probably because he didn’t want to tell me the truth about my materials. Again, the money for materials was charged in March and now I find out they were never ordered. Overall, no communication to anyone. A refund was offered and I declined because my insurance is confused by the refund amount. My insurance is not aware of change orders that he added. He was very eager to get my funds though and when I informed him that I felt uncomfortable giving him cash, he charged me $180 extra to pay him with a card. He is very good at taking money and not doing the job. I do not know their quality of work because the materials were not delivered to install.

  Response from the owner

  We were the second contractor involved in this project. When we got involved we noticed much more hail damage than the original adjuster had allowed for. We met with a second adjuster to review the scope of repairs and that scope was confirmed in email and accepted. The job was put on hold at the customers request because it was close to winter. During the winter, we met with a third adjuster and expanded the scope of work to include all of the windows. All pricing and estimates we sent to both the client and the adjuster for approval. We do not do any work without a financial commitment from our client. It is typical to take deposits on jobs of this size. The deposit made by the client did not cover the costs of all the material to be provided. The client was threatening to our staff on multiple occasions and the job was placed on hold. We have offered a refund of the unused deposit and the owner refused to accept it. We have made every attempt to work this out and we understand that there are some customers that are not a good fit for our company.

  Big Sky Custom Builders did an amazing job on our siding, outdoor staining, and pergola installation. Everything looks perfect and we are extremely happy with the results. The crew was very nice, thorough, and even worked around our napping kids. Thank you!!

  Jon and his crew with Big Sky Custom Builders are absolutely incredible! They have great customer service, are professional, and were a pleasure to work with. My new TPO roof and living room wall were done to perfection. I highly recommend this reliable, top notch company.
