  If you are building or doing any project I suggest using anyone other than Big L. We used them for our new home build and it has been a complete mess. They didn't quote our lumber package properly, shorted us on multiple materials, double charged us for others, said they delivered things that they didn't, didn't order vital pieces of lumber for our garage and front porch, delivered our lumber a month before we needed it to charge us the outrageous lumber prices. Then when we had a scheduled meeting to go over all of these issues they cancelled and have not made any attempt to reschedule. We are thankful for our contractor who has worked with us and done his best with all these delays and issues. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt on multiple occasions and they have continued to prove to me that was a terrible choice. There are other issues but you get the point.

  I will never go to big L's in Greenville again. I got there 5 minutes before close. I needed one item and knew where it was. An employee locked the door just as I was going to go through it. I said to him through the door, I just need one thing and will be done in two minutes. He said we are closed and walked away. It was still four minutes before close. I go to Ace, self serve lumber in Belding or Menards for wood or hardware. now.

  Scott- I'm sorry for the experience you had yesterday. I wanted to be transparent and share with you the message I shared with all of our employees today. It certainly doesn't fix your experience but I wanted you to know how I addressed it. Thanks for your feedback. Inter-Company Email to all employees- So apparently yesterday we had a customer stroll up right at close at the Greenville yard. I know when it's closing time (especially on a Saturday) it's time to go home or anything better than being at work. In the world we live in today though waving and saying we're closed thru the door is a recipe for a bad Google review. Yes I know that when the door locks at Menards or Meijer nobody else is getting inside but they're also businesses that can handle 1000 negative reviews and not miss a beat. We don't fall into that category especially as the demographic in Greenville continues to change more and more everyday. Offering a kindness yesterday quite possibly could have created a 5-star review whereas the wave caused a 1-star. Please keep that in mind when these type situations present themselves in the future.

  I have always had a good experience at Big L Lumber. I have bought wood, trim, and other materials and always been happy with the quality of the products. I built a bed frame and head board with some 2x6 planks and it turned out great, I also bought some similar wood from another big box store and the experience was not the same, they were not helpful and the wood was junk. I’ll choose Big L any day over the big box stores!
