  Had Mr. Becker out to my home to assess a leak in my roof and determine if a repair was in order or a whole roof replacement due to the age of 17-18 years. When he arrived I asked for a quote of what it would be to repair or “band aid” the issue if possible and a quote for the whole roof either way. He decided what the problem was before he got on the roof and then went and grabbed a few nails and some caulk and said, “we will get ya taken care of today.” I thought maybe he was gonna throw a few nails to get us a couple weeks until the roof could be replaced because this wasn’t a long term solution in my eyes and he mentioned nothing about cost at this point. I was thinking, great this guy is going to take care of a “band aid” repair real quick to keep any further water from coming in the house in hopes of earning our business on the roof replacement. He proceeded to throw a couple nails and caulked what I thought was all the flashing around the exhaust vents. Then he came down and said, “okay it’s gonna be $225 for today and the cost to replace the roof is $7750.” My plan was to caulk it myself if that is all that needed to be done to get us through until the roof is replaced in a few weeks but he went ahead and did it himself without asking for authorization or providing the cost. I was pretty thrown back by this and stewed on it for a few hours and then went up on the roof to find he only put a couple nails next to the existing nails and caulked a seam on each side but did not caulk around all the seams even or replace the boots as is typical when doing this sort of repair. So he got $225 for 10 minutes of work and when I contacted him about my displeasure and apprehension about paying for such work he never responded after 3 days. Seemed like a decent guy but I can not recommend him based on my experience and we have elected to go with another company for our roof replacement set for next week.
