Pretty cool to check out if you're in the area. We came in the winter and the access road was literally just a layer of ice, so decided not to walk/drive it and drove up to the side of the highway instead. Looked like it may be a better attraction to visit in the warmer months.

I feel that I got extremely lucky on my trip to the Austin dam show. If it's not the last rock show though ya might wanna consider that it should be. There was nearly no structure, I couldn't tell who worked there, and overall it felt like a fend for yourself kind of deal. I guess I'm just disappointed, this place has so much potential but maybe the state of this event comes from the impact to the world from the pandemic. Thanks for the fun but honestly this place just feels like a giant cash grab. I could go on but I honestly just hope it gets better.

The actual dam structure really makes one think of this tragedy, however the day we visited was a bad day. There was some kind of festival going on which blocked the area in front which I guess where one would park. They wanted $25 to enter. With what was left to get close to the dam was very difficult to get there. It just might be the most non visitor friendly attraction I've ever been to. I'll try another day. Edited: Thanks for the nice explanation that caused questions on visiting. We will return for a visit and THANKS again.

      Response from the owner

Sorry. Normally, when there is a festival with admission charged and parking is difficult for visitors to the Austin Dam Ruins, the policy is to let the Austin Dam Ruins visitors park in reserved spaces up close to ruins entrance, and then the visitors can go in for free to tour the ruins. However, since our park is staffed by volunteers, and we are always short-staffed, the instructions don't get communicated properly. We are always willing to say sorry when we are at fault in these matters but please come back and see us again. There are only three of weekends during the summer when there are festivals (we try hard to support local artists during these events and the events are park fundraisers to keep the open), and those are announced on our Facebook page; google search "Austin Dam Park Facebook.
