All the negative complaints are real folks. Every complaint is spot on with my experiences of 4 years. Their only urgency is displayed when taking your money. Service calls are billed before anyone even comes out, but that is where their customer service ends. Once they've billed you, the strategy is delays and obfuscation. They will try to repair something for months instead of replace it, even when the techs THEY contract with say it should be replaced. For minor or insignificant repairs it's fine. But that's not why you get their services. They have ABSOLUTELY NO RESERVATIONS keeping you waiting for weeks (or longer) to repair heating and cooling issues, even in peak winter/summer weather. They will look for excuses to deny service. Here's the most recent example. In the 30s outside and my heater went down. My service request was never forwarded to the repair company. Called 4 days later asking and "so sorry for the misunderstanding". Service tech finally comes out and says he thinks the (new) thermostat wire is bad. "MAYBE something chewed through it". AHS denies to repair based on the technicians guess because they "don't fix rodent damage". After spending the morning removing the wire and running new wire myself...guess what. No damage to the wire. Denied based on a guess that was wrong. I don't know if other companies are any better (some consumer reports suggest there are better companies) as their isn't much competition, but these people are horrible. Unless your stuff breaks down regularly and there is no urgency to repair, you are better off paying for repairs out of pocket or fixing yourself.

I have signed up this service 6 months back then had my heating issue created a service request. they have assigned it to a contractor (United AirTemp) who charged 4 times of the part (Hydronic Handler charged nearly 6K). Later I have had water heater valve broken, so created a service request again, They never repaired it, and keep saying the part is ordered after 30 days of no hot water, hired another plumber to repair it. the can is available in every local store( the part is Mixing Valve). The customer service is out sourced, and you never understand what they are talking as well. these guys are bogus. Please don't waste your money. This is my humble request.

After having a whole-house coverage plan for over 10 years, I am being told that it will cost me over $600 to have my water heater replaced. Something to do with plumbing modifications, but it seems to me that plumbing is part of the cost of installing a water heater. I've spent half a day trying to reach someone, but the people I've been able to get to don't speak fluent English and are difficult to understand. They finally said "hang up and call back" if you want someone else. This is not the first time we have received terrible treatment from AHS. I would NOT recommend them to anyone.
